As far as I can work out, ambience is from a mic somewhere in the room picking up everything. The same is true of overhead mics. The bleed control is all you have to set how much of a drum is in them. Each drum has its own mic and level control.

Go to the Drums Tab, select the individual Instrument and adjust it’s volume there. A legit way to isolate an instrument ‘s volume outside of it’s bus on the Mixer Tab.

When it comes to FX, yes you get only what is offered. In many cases you can take the FX out and then route out to your DAW and treat it there with your 3rd party or DAW plugins.

If you need more control than that, consider Superior Drummer. A crossgrade price exists for owners of EZD.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you both for your help!

Shootie – unfortunately, volume adjustments on the Drums tab apply to all mic channels, and while the Mixer tab lets you adjust the close mics, you can’t really change the balance of kit pieces in OH/Room mics (well, some presets give you a limited ability to do this).

IMO it’s a strange omission from TT, as it’s basic functionality for a multi-sampled drum library. I was able to do this with TT Custom&Vintage nearly two decades ago. Would’ve been a deal-breaker had I known, oh well…

That is certainly a feature in Superior Drummer 3.

Well here I am a year later and I am having the same problem. There is no separate channel in the mixer for the cymbals. Now I have this annoying as heck snare drum in the OH channel over powering my entire drum mix. Pulling back the fader on the snare track doesn’t help. How do i fix this? Why aren’t the cymbals on a separate channel? Why can’t I select the pieces in the OH channel and delete the one I don’t want? Why can’t you edit the OH channel? Who designed this this way? A lot of questions I know! 😂  IMHO this is really stupid.

I need a fix for this if anyone has any ideas. Please don’t tell me to upgrade to SD3! 😎

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Allan

Try this: In Mixer tab, set OH to solo; set all cymbals to high volume in Drums tab, high enough to drown out the snare; back in Mixer, bring the fader down to the OH volume you want.

Or use a preset with the appropriate bleed control.

I might want my Toyota Rav4 to do what a Tesla does. But I didn’t buy the Tesla.

Mick’s workaround just above is a great idea if you don’t have a Bleed module on the preset in question.

Certain EZX’s have isolated cymbal presets. An investment that could go towards the SD3 crossgrade instead.

    Mick,

Thanks so much it worked like a charm. Now I actually have separate tracks for each of the cymbals.

A little more effort but a lot more control in the mix and NO annoying snare!

Again I appreciate the help so much!

    Best,

    Allan

    Hey I own a Tesla! 😂

    Mick’s fix worked!

As far as the crossgrade from EZD3 to SD3 $319 doesn’t sound like much of a deal to me.😒

Thanks again for your help and input.

Isolating cymbals from an OH channel. Are you using more than one instance of EZD to achieve this?

No, just one. all the drums, cymbals, etc. bleed through the overheads.

You just need to take them all down to zero volume on the drums tab and the leave the one up you want to record to a separate track.

Rinse and repeat for each separate cymbal or drum for example.

When you are done return everything to unity and take the overheads off of solo in the mixer.

    BOOM!
