EZD3 Bright Room missing ride in room mics

I’m not sure if this was intentional or if it’s a bug, but in the bright room kit the ride cymbal is almost non-existant in the ambience channel? The crashes and the hi-hat are very present in those ambience mics but the ride cymbal is almost dead quiet.

I mean since the other cymbals are so loud it can’t be the miking? either it’s a bug or someone decided to take out or lower the ride cymbal in those mics.

It feels weird when i listen to the ambience channel and I have a groove in the chorus of the song which relies on the ride bell – but that bell is absent from the ambience mics.

I’ve listened to the cymbals in a number of expansions. Bright Room rides don’t seem to be any quieter than rides in other rooms. Rides are quieter than other cymbals. An ambience mic is further away from the kit than overheads are. That would make it harder for that mic to pick up a ride, making it even quieter. Rides are heavier than crashes, meaning that it takes a harder hit to get the same volume. Rides lack the higher frequencies, making their perceived volume lower still.

I’m sorry but that is simply not true. I’ve recorded real drumkits for a living in different studios for a number of years and that is not how rooms mics sound. The ride is usually very present in rooms mics.

Hi,

the Ride is about -3dB lower in the AMB mics in most presets (not in the Original Mix one) in the Bright Room but I would assume this is what the Producer Michael Ilbert intended. The Ride has got its own microphone as well, so you should be able to shape the sound to your liking.
