Lovely looking and sounding program!
Here we go with the inevitable glitches:
BRIGHT ROOM CAUSING ERROR MESSAGE
In EZD3, I get “the sound library EZ Drummer 3 Bright Room needs to be updated. Please use the Toontrack Program Manager to update”. Program Manager says it’s all good, and SD 3.3.0 loads the bright room without a hitch. In EZD 3.3.0 it will play, but there’s no graphics. No change on a restart.
Thanks!
Bumping this question as clearly my install is atypical. Because the library loads fine in SD3, am I best to delete and then reinstall the EZD3 plugin itself?
Huh – just noticed in SD that the graphics are the old graphics not the new, and are the same for each of the three new kits. What SHOULD I be seeing?
Grateful for a response – thanks.
Well, my guess is that at least one of your installed Bright Room files is corrupt. A common cause for that is that there is a problem with the disk, e.g. that it has a bad sector. You could try to simply install the library again.

Thanks Olaf. Just downloaded and verified – it said it checked out, but still wasn’t fixed. I then uninstalled and reinstalled and voila – graphics are back.
Superior Drummer just shows the same generic graphics for all 3 kits, is that by design?
PS – odd that Uninstall was greyed out in Product Manager until I download it again – only then could I uninstall it!
Okay, great.
Yes, Superior Drummer 3 only shows generic graphics for EZX instruments.

Can that be updated in SD3? I use both programs and differing graphics cause confusion. Seems like a small effort for such a big consistence and usability payoff.

I guess the EZD3 core library is – at the moment – an anomaly. It uses a new graphics format exclusively. All the previous EZXs now have both old and new. I’m guessing SD3 isn’t at this point able to read the new format, so because there’s no need for the shiny new EZD3 kits to have an old style interface, they did a generic front end across all 3 kits for SD3.
It would be nice to have SD3 read the new graphics format – they look pretty, yes, but as you say it does mean that you know where you are if you use both.
Here’s a surprising thing about the new graphics – they’re not part of the installed EZXs. I was expecting updates to them all, but no. Instead, the entire Toontrack range of graphics is part of the EZD3 install. On windows they’re in C/ProgramData/Toontrack/EZdrummer3/DrumGraphics. Pretty light though at 355mb all-in.

Thanked by: MarkonianI appreciate the info. I hope they invest a little of the money we spend on updating SD3 to read the format. Cross application consistency can have a measurable impact on customer satisfaction. You know, for companies that care about such things.
