Please can anyone explain if having installed EZD3 upgrade (which I understand does not overwrite EZD2) it is later possible to reinstall EZD2 and the EZD3 update on a new hard drive?
I ask because the youtube and web info says if you don’t delete EZD2, but I have projects in EZD2 that I don’t want to have to migrate to EZD3 when moving stuff around and updating hardware. It isn’t Toontrack reason that I am finding I need to update hardware but another venders product that is ‘bloatware’ driving the need.
Thank you.
Bump:
ok I have read that EZD3 can import EZD2 projects but I am assuming that is an EZD saved file not necessarily a whole Reaper project where EZD2 was used as a plug-in rather than as stand alone EZD. So can anyone advise please?
EZD2 and EZD3 are seen as different programs on the system, as well, as from a DAW project. Both should be able to point to their own Library location, but I can not verify yet, lol.
When you try to open a project that is using EZD2 Application, it will look for EZD2, not EZD3.
EZD3 can not replace and load an EZD2 project.
We can Import EZD2 project (.ezdp format) into EZD3, from the Menu of EZD3.
But know, after Import to EZD3, it will not open again in EZD2 after that. (Maybe keep a backup of the original EZD2 .ezdp file until verifying import success.)
So,,,
If we want to use EZD2 used on an old project, we need to leave the EZD2 Application installed.
If we just want to use the EZD2 Core kits in EZD3 from now forward, that comes from the EZD2 Core installer. We can leave the CORE Installer without keeping the EZD2 Application, from what I understand.
I’m needing to fresh install on my new computer build and can’t find the info on how to keep and install everything from the first version of EZD.
Cocktail Kit, and a few others I believe are from the Core installers. But I can’t find the info to verify, or the procedure of fresh install from EZD1 lol.
I’m actually considering moving my EZX’s from my Win 8 pro system to this new build. I just hate to be a test bench for something that should be easily found info. But it’s not! lol
Also, if I have something I don’t want, such as bloatware, I remove it asap…

Hi,
all your product installers are available in your Toontrack account.
You can use the method in the FAQ: ‘How do I move the Sounds’ for EZdrummer 2 to move everything (EZX:s and Toontrack MIDI) to your new computer.

Hi @The Rocker,
Thanks for your shots at answers. I have been offline and unable to catchup, so srry about the delay to reply.
Before you answered I ended up raising a query to Toontrack recognising that as it it was ‘just post release’ answers may be slow coming as I am sure there were plenty of post go live support queries. Suffice to say I got two answers back from them as the first was a tad shy on information and I was still not clear on the process. The second reply, indicates that the ‘Upgrade’ download I got is in fact a full install of EZD3 and that it is possible that I need not install EZD2 first then use the update. So it seems quite possible that I should be able to install EZD2 on an updated PC and then still install EZD3 to have both versions available. At least I hope so.
As I bought another package (can remain nameless here) that gives Guitar Amps etc. and that it does not work on the base spec PC that they indicated it would I am looking to update PC, sadly now is NOT the right time for buying PC hardware. That being the case, EZD3 has not yet been installed here and I am still using EZD2 albeit, probably not very well as I get overwhelmed trying to think, Music, Computer … err why did it do that.. oh yeah ok that sounds alright, dang it didn’t come over to the DAW how I wanted .. etc. Sometimes what looks so easy on the Youtube simply isn’t ….
@John,
Thanks for the info on the account pages. But frankly I find all that confusing too and I struggle with things that need online resources to do things. I am getting to the point that I don’t want to use internet these days, certainly not with my Music PC. So I guess, a lot of older folk like me are just gonna give up on it all eventually because its just not our thing. Inclusive, safe and tolerant, the internet is NOT.
Thanks again.
Well StratCat51, it’s true EZD3 does not write over EZD2. So you can keep both installed.
Also, if you are on Windows, then I can offer to assist you with your concerns. I’m not a Mac guy, though I can get around fine on Mac.
I know Windows OS, and help many get up and running.
I use Studio One DAW, so I am known in their media / forums for getting people up and running. I don’t charge, just help, lol.
Whether it’s OS, bad parts, or upgrade system and parts, DAW or plugin issues, we can figure it out, and help you choose what’s best for you.
I just built this system, I understand the crazy state we are in lol.
There is no Messaging service on this forum, so facebook or email can let us start 😀

Thank you for your kind words and offer of help.
I am using Reaper DAW having originally started with it back in 2009 with it until work simply put paid to any time for Guitar about a year later. It was manic work until I had an accident in 2016 that broke my back, left knee, shattered an eye socket and mangled every metacarple in my right hand. I retired shortly after the accident and its taken 3 years to get my right hand to play guitar. I can’t feel my index finger and thumb so pick use and string feel is …. a less than I’d like 😉 The head injuries, have taken some getting used to as well, nothing visible to most but shall we say finding confidence to meet others and play is something I find all but impossible now. So please accept my thanks in words and forum click, and understand that whilst I really appreciate that offer I am pegging away at things as best I can and with the Reaper forum group.
I wish you the best, and hope that EZD3 gives you the extra that you hope for. For me, the Band Mate sounded nice, but I need a better PC first.
Kind regards
