I spent money last night online to purchase EZD2 and the Latin Percussion EZX pack.
After trying to figure out the MIDI mapping on my ZendrumZX Controller.. I realized that YOU CANNOT REASSIGN MIDI NOTES! WTH??
Why would they design such an uncomplete product?
Now what? I wanted to use this as stand alone sound for my ZendrumZX to play live and needed to reassign the sounds from both the kit sounds and percussion sounds to my controller.
I don’t think I can do that in EZD2. What do I do now?
I don’t think I can return the software, can I?
I’m not sure what version of Zendrum ZX you have but I own a Zendrum Zap and I can change MIDI. note numbers. I believe that the version 4 manual explains how to change note numbers on the Zendrum.
From the Zendrum ZX manual
‘The purpose of the MIDI Note NO function is to assign individual drums or melodic
notes to each trigger. The standard numeric value ranges from 0 to 127. However, the
Zendrum allows for a 4-note sequential velocity switch per trigger. (see 4-Note Velocity
Switch Feature)
While in the MIDI Note NO function, press (+) or (-) to show the Select Brackets [ ].
Tap the trigger you wish to change once, then use (+) or (-) to change the numeric value
of that trigger. You will hear the sound that corresponds to that MIDI note number as you
scroll through the numbers with the new Audible Note Assignment feature of the Z4.’

Scott,
Here’s what I’m trying to do and I can’t find any information on how to do this with EZD2..
I want to trigger sounds from EZD2 live on my ZendrumZX. The sounds I regularly use on my ZendrumZX are a combination of Drum Set and Percussion Sounds (bongos, congas, chimes). I thought by purchasing EZD2 and the Latin Percussion EZX, I could do that. But it’s not that simple is it?
Is there a way to trigger both these libraries on my Zendrum layout (30 pads total) from EZD2?
I cannot access the Latin Percussion instruments from the Basic drum set page. I tried pulling down the instrument tab from some of the drum set pieces to try to select sounds from the Latin Percussion EZX pack, but it just shows ‘none’, no sounds are listed.
Then, I figure I would have to reassign the MIDI notes of the Latin Percussion pack somewhere above 83 so I can access them on my Zendrum the same time as the Drum Set sounds..
Is this the way to do it? Or am I going about it all the wrong way?
Can I use both Drum Set sounds and the Latin Percussion sound library simultaneously on my Zendrum ZX Z4 MIDI controller for live performance?
Equipment:
i5/ SSD PC laptop
Scarlett 2i4 MIDI I/O
ZendrumZX Z4 chip
Thanks for your advice,
Rick
Well, if you want to use 2 kits (drums and percussion) I’m not sure it’s possible using EZD2. It is possible with S2 as S2 was designed for e-drum playing.
When I use my Zendrum and want drum and percussion sounds, I open S2 in Toontrack Solo and assign my drum sounds in the S2 software and add percussion pieces as x-drums and assign them to other triggers.
Now, I’m not sure if there are some MIDI note translation software that can do the same thing with EZD2. You would need to be able to open 2 instances of EZD2 in a DAW and assign triggers to both instances.

This is my answer.. Thank you.
So NOT possible to play 2 sets of sounds on EZD2 live on one controller.
That’s really dissapointing, as I was hoping to do just that.
So your saying I can use the Latin Percussion EZX Sounds with SD2? Or does SD2 have it’s own set of percussion sounds included?
Also, is there a way I can return my EZD2 product (liscence/serial number) through the Toontracks company? I don’t think the online retailers allow this?
Or maybe trade my EZD2 serial number for a SD2 serial number with an upcharge?
I just purchased this software last night.
Thanks for you help.
