Howdy hey y’all-
Finally bit the bullet and invested in a new DAW, the old Athalon dual-core was getting a bit long in the tooth. The new box (i5 3750 based) rocks, and the prep/setup has gone surprisingly pain free – least until I got around to EZD. Pretty sure it’s operator error (hey, it’s been 2 1/2 years since the first install, kinda fuzzy on the details…), and I’m pretty sure I just burned an autho to no good end. Wanna take another whack at this, and get it right this time.
Background – I had started with the PreSonus demo when I went to Studio One, liked what I was hearing well enough to do the (at that time) Musicians Friend upgrade. Had some install confusions that Scott kindly straightened me out on, and all was smooth sailing from there till now.
This time around enough time had passed that I had to search around a bit – never found the original PreSonus file (tho I have since) but had archived what I believe was the full version, a file named TT119EZD (dated 10/09) and the 32bit update (07/2010). Ran them, and they seemed to install ok – but a couple items popped up right away:
Serial number – couldn’t (at first, have now) find the upgrade number, so I entered the number from the Presonus version – entered that info and the new computer ID into the “register” area at TT, it took it and gave me a response. But when I went to enter it, it refused to accept it. I now get a new challenge with what seems to be a different ID – but I don’t want to monkey with it until I’m sure I’m good. Burning authos, here – gotta make this one count.
And content – when I go to my samples drive, the only thing that got installed was the Cocktail stuff, no sign anywhere of the EZD sounds. So sumptin’ didn’t go quite right here.
Went to my products page (finally, shoulda done that first) and downloaded the whole thing again – I note that this file is TT255_Ez(etc). Apparently there’s been some changes I haven’t kept track of. Assuming that’s the latest version of the full package, what I’m thinking is –
Uninstall everything currently on the system, erase the content folder from the samples drive, run the registry cleaner just to catch what I can – and then run the TT255 installer, using the serial number for the upgrade on my products page.
Does this sound right – will this set up EZD (most important) with Cocktail and Solo (lesser importance), as well as set up the content? And perhaps most important, with that serial number will I be able to get autho’d??
As I said, most likely my bad here – acknowledged. But I’ve only got a couple authos left, and would like to have one for a rainy day without haggling for a reset. Hey, last DAW went…(have to think…) seven years, I think. So it’s not like I smoke’em like Winstons – once I’ve got the new box set up with everything running I’ll image the drive – and that will be that for a long time……..
So – you still around, Scott? Or some Scott-like equivalent? You got me squared away toot-sweet last time, hoping for a repeat performance here.
