I loved EZD 2 but EZD feels like a step backwards. My biggest complaint is I can’t audition a midi groove against the track in my daw from beat 1. The midi always starts from whatever bar my daw is on. This makes sense for midi in the timeline but not for suggested midi in the grooves tab. Am I really supposed to drag each midi file into the timeline one by one to hear it play from beat 1? Also, bandmate sucks A$$. I’m sorry but it does. It thinks every pop / rock stem I drag into it is funk or jazz fusion. The suggested midi is horrible. Finding grooves in EZD 2 was so easy. EZD 3 feels like trying to eat a grape with a fork
Uncheck the Follow Host button at the bottom of EZD window to stop it running from the DAW curser. Having it checked lets you audition grooves within a song, without needing do anything more than click on the groove in the browser.
Bandmate: there’s a list of styles to the left. Click on each one and see if any are less horrible.
Shootie School has some YouTubes about EZD 3. Look them up.

Thanked by: Scott EshlemanNot sure how the groove audition is a step back backwards. If you click play on EZ Drummer 2 and hit start, EZ Drummer 2 will sync to a corresponding bar in your groove based on your playhead position in your timeline (divisible by the length of the groove). This is what I would expect when I am auditioning a groove while my DAW is playing. Otherwise, it would sound like a mumbled mess. I personally think that the groove layout, along with searching for and auditioning grooves using Tap-2-Find have greatly improved.
As was posted above, disable Follow Host if you don’t to follow the timeline.
As for Bandmate, what kind of stem are you feeding it? You’re rather ambiguous on that. I pass it some clean guitar parts and get good beat variations. If you’re giving it everything but the drums, then you’re going to get unpredictable results since EZ Drummer 3 won’t know which instrument to follow.
Like the above, if you are trying to eat the grape with a fork without using your other hand to hold the grape while you pierce it, you’re creating your own frustrations here.
