    Hi,

Could you attach such a dmp file, please?

If you go to “VST Settings” in the Cakewalk preferences and uncheck “Hide Related VST2 Plug-Ins”, try to add the EZbass VST2 instead of VST3, maybe it works?

We have tested the VST3 extensively in Cakewalk and have not been able to get any crash. Could you take screenshots of the following, please:

    • Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings
    • Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording
    • The “Insert Soft Synth Options” window shown when you try to add EZbass.

The dump file defaulted to a spreadsheet on my computer so hopefully it makes some sense.

Looks like I wasn’t able to send the dump file. Here’s a screenshot of the pop-up box that I get sometimes when trying to arm EZbass, although it doesn’t appear every time. Let me know if you still need the dump file and I will keep trying to send it.

Yes, please try again to attach it, either with the original filename or in a zip file.

When you select EZbass in your third screenshot, do you get a “Insert Soft Synth Options” dialog? If so, please take a screenshot of it.

    Hopefully it attached this time.

I do get that dialogue when dragging the plug-in from the bin.

Thanks, will try to reproduce it.

Does the VST2 work? (See my first reply.)

I figured out what happened, although I’m not sure why this should have the effect that it did.

In a previous project I “printed” the EZbass MIDI onto an auxiliary track so I could archive the plug-in and save CPU usage. After unchecking the archive button on the track I closed that project and opened the one that I was having trouble with EZbass in. I can now arm a track with EZbass as if there was never an issue. It would be interesting to know what is causing this. I can try changing the plug-in to a VST2 setting and see if this has any effect on this behavior.

I thought it crashed immediately when you tried to insert a new instance of EZbass? If not, please describe exactly what you did before the crashes. Did it happen in new projects or only in a particular one?

But no more crashes happening now?

Btw, I couldn’t open the dmp file, it seems to have been re-saved by some text/spreadsheet program. If you get a new crash, please send the zipped dmp file without trying to open it first.

Having the same issue. Attempting to add EZbass to a new track in Cakewalk by Bandlab Version: 2021.12 (Build 101, 64-bit). results in a crash to the DAW.  I uninstalled and reinstalled via PM, no change. Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes it crashes immediately in a new project. I archived it in an old project in which it was working fine. I then began a new project which is when it began crashing. I decided to see if arching it in the previous project was the problem so I turned off the archive feature in that previous project and it began working properly in the new one. Archiving EZbass in one project effected it in another.

Also in new projects without other plug-ins?

Please post screenshots of the following:

If you are using an ASIO device, please check if it helps to use WASAPI instead.

Check if the EZbass VST2 works better.

    Okay, strange…

    Here you are.

So I changed the VST settings to unhide related VST2 and find that the crashes only happen with the VST3 version.  Doesn’t matter whether I insert via drag and drop or via the insert soft synth menu.  I switched to WASAPI shared and the VST3 did work but I don’t want to use WASAPI going forward. Hoping you can update the VST3 to work.

Screen shot jpegs attached along with most recent dmp.

Thanks again for your kind assistance!

I have an idea what could be causing the VST3 crashes. What kind of storage devices do you have on the computer? Do you have any drives for removable media, for example any SD card reader? If so, is there anything in them? Changing their states or disconnecting them could perhaps make a difference.

Good day Olof.  I have no storage cards in any of the card reader slots on my Dell XPS 8700 PC.  I have the typical combo mini card reader.  My C: drive is an SSD, and I have another internal SSD (Samsung EVO) and an external SSD via USB3, one internal M.2 and a few external HDDs plus my internal DVD drive.

    Thanks,

    KD
