EZbass does not show in Sonar 7

I just bought EZbass and installed it on my pc (windows 10).

My DAW is Sonar 7, but EZ bass does not appear in my plugin list.

In stand alone mode it works perfectly though.

I’ve been reading a bit here about the problem and I think it may have something to do with 64bit or so (I’m a bit of a noob on that).

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Or do I really need to replace my daw?

Is your Sonar 7 a 64-bit DAW? EZbass requires a 64-bit DAW to work.

I’m not sure, so don’t quote me, but I think there are both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Sonar 7.

I was a bit worried you were gonna say that, there are a few posts here that had the same problem and it was always the case of 64bit vs 32bit.

I’m afraid sonar was discontinued so there nothing to change about I think. Also no more support.

So I guess it’s time for a new DAW for me besides Sonar 7. A bit of a shame though because I really like to work with it.

Can you maybe recommend a goor DAW for me that supports 64bit?

I was considering cubase elements10.5 or artist 10.5 , but maybe you have a better suggestion for me.

I’m a Cubase 9.5 Pro user myself so I’m a little biased to lean that way. I’ve used Cubase since the early 2000s so I just know it and my way around it. It fits my workflow… or maybe my workflow adjusted to Cubase without me knowing haha.

Anyway, I think there is a demo for Cubase so you can try. I’ve also heard positive things with Reaper. I used it years ago on my laptop but not since version 4 (I think it’s up to 6 now). You can also demo that as well. There is Studio One or Pro Tools as well. I believe most DAWs have demos so you can find one that fits your needs.

Thanks for the info.

I’m thinking cubase artist 10.5 would be best for me (looking back I should have went with that in the first place years ago).

It just sucks that I now have to start from scratch again learning and getting to know the program.

But maybe it’s a sign from the gods haha, new EZdrummer and new EZbass saying I need a new DAW.

Again much gratitude for all the help, I really appreciate it.

No. I don’t see a reason not to. I have Cubase 9.5 and Samplitude X for mastering. They don’t interfere with each other.

I now got the trial version of cubase installed and that works perfectly, so I’m gonna get the artist version from cubase.

I love it, I should have gone with cubase much earlier.

I’m gonna spend some time getting to know the program now and soon I’ll be back in business 🙂

Davesband… The new iteration of Sonar is alive and well and fully supported, with regular updates. And it’s free. A company called Bandlab bought Sonar/Cakewalk from Gibson when they bailed on it on a couple of years ago. You’ll find the GUI to be mostly the same with some great upgrades since way back in Sonar 7 — take it from a guy who’s been in since Sonar 4!

I use Reaper and you should be able to use Sonar as an external editor in Reaper even if Reaper is 64 bit and Sonar is 32 bit.

Not entirely sure that would work but the fully functional version of Reaper is free to try, so you can give it a try at no cost.

Kenny Gioas excellent tutorial videos on the Reaper home page will get you started.

Just Google setting-up an external editor in Reaper, you might not have to lose Sonar entirely..
