Hi everyone, first post here.
I’m new to daws, drum software and the like. I have a problem with ezdrummer 3. Sometimes most of the drums on the first kit the yamaha custom are weak and distorted for no reason, there is a good midi signal in, but the only drums that sound any good are the kick, 3rd tom and 2nd floor tom. I was able to save one preset that always works, but now for some reason the initial drumset when I first launch it in standalone or daw is always weak and distorted, as well as another preset I made which sounded good one time and now doesn’t sound good at all. I have one preset which always sounds good, but all the settings are identical with the other presets that don’t sound good so I can’t make sense of it. I have changed some of the mapping in the software to my kit which is a roland td 17 with an extra cymbal and floor tom pad. This happens whether I hit the drum with the mouse, or the kit though. I’m using reaper as my daw with a behringer xr 18 interface. This is a wierd problem, hopefully someone has some tips for me. Thanks!!

for more information, the problem only seems to be happening with the kit in the main room, for some reason. If I change the individual snare for example on that same kit, no matter which one it is it will be quiet and distorted. If I change to the bright or tight room, everything there works as normal. I put a china on one of the cymbals in the main room which was in the bright room, would that cause this?

Thanked by: Dominic IeraciI’m using reaper as the daw and it doesn’t matter if I use multi out or out on 1 and 2. It happens in the stand alone program as well as the plugin in the daw. I use the stand alone through the mixer to play my ekit with to practice and play with my band, don’t even use the daw for that but the problem remains. I have one preset I saved where I added a china from the bright room that works fine in both the plugin and the stand alone, but all the settings are the same everywhere. I just got a new computer with 32gb ram, 3TB of nvme hard drive space, i5 processor so I set the latency to 96 or 128 and it doesn’t matter. The software decided it wanted to run 64ms but I thought that might have caused the distortion but it seems to happen at the other settings as well.
This is only happening with the Michael Ilbert studio basic full mic kit, the singer songwriter full mic kits. The small mic kits appear to work ok. I’m glad I saved a preset where all the drums sound right, none of the other room kit presets seem to have the problem, I can’t find a way to reset the software so it works like it did when I first downloaded. Thanks for any info!

Reason: more info provided
Thanks for the information Dominic. It’s hard at this point to diagnose what is going on. So I am going to ask you to save one of presets that sound bad, to a project file (File > Save As) zip/compress that file and post it here and we can take a look to make sure that everything is ok.
