I have EZ mix2 installed on two computers. My primary computer is running windows 7 64-bit, and my secondary is running windows 10 64-bit.
My audio interface is a Focusrites Scarlett 2i2. When I try to use EZ mix2 in standalone on my windows 7-system it completely occupies the audio interface, meaning I can’t listen to audio outside of EX mix2 and use it at the same time. This is very frustrating since I want to use it in standalone when I practice guitar stuff. It also makes “pops” and “crackles” which are very annoying. However, when I use it inside my DAW (Pro Tools 10) it works just fine all of a sudden (no pops or crackles, however using Pro Tools and trying to listen to audio outside of it at the same time is impossible because…Avid). Both 32-bit and 64-bit of EZ Mix2 seems to behave the same in standalone on this rig.
The thing is, on my windows 10-system it works flawlessly in standalone, and I can listen to whatever audio I want at the same time, youtube, spotify, waw-files and what have you. I’m literally using the same interface on both systems (switching it back and forth depending on which computer I need to use at the moment). Now you might say, “Well, just use it on the windows 10-rig them”, but this computer is at a different location and I need to be able to use them on both systems. In standalone.
I’m at loss here and need help. Is there something I’m missing…? The audio settings within EZ mix2 are the same on both systems it seems.

Secondary rig:

Hi,
my first bet would be on checking the driver for the Scarlett on Windows 7. If it can’t be multi-client on Windows 7, it needs an update, I guess. Also, check the buffer size and compare it to your Windows 10 system. Maybe there is something else on your Win 7 system that needs tweaking for Audio to keep the pops and crackles away if buffer size and driver seems OK.

The drivers are up to date, so that can be ruled out of the equation. There is something else rather fishy going on. It’s not hardware-related (I think), because this specific computer has had all it’s components upgraded at one point and the problem was there before I upgraded and after. Same OS.
Maybe it’s a USB driver issue that I’m unaware of…
I guess you have checked guides like:

Yeah, that got be nowhere I’m afraid, everything seems to be in order.. :/
EDIT: Ok, it seems I have found the issue. My soundcard is set at 48khz (that’s what I use in Pro Tools), but when I start EZmix2 in Standalone it changes to 44.1khz and that can’t be changed to 48Kkhz for some reason, it just changes back to 44.1khz. So there’s the clash. If I change the properties of my audio interface back to 44.1khz it works as a multi-client with EZmix.
I’m having a similar problem with my RME interface and win 10. I launch EZMix 2 standalone set the interface buffer to 44100 and it works ok for a while, but slowly begins to degrade in audio quality with crackles and stuttering to the point of it being useless.
New recent build:
z490 intel MB (Note this board has built in audio so it could be something conflicting – tried disabling – no luck)
i7 10700 K
32 GB ram
