Hi.
EZ Keys midi drag and drop does not work when I try to drag a previously exported midi file back to EZ Keys.
Works fine to drag it into Logic but when I try to drag it back it simple does not take it.
Dragging and dropping from host to virtual instrument isn’t supported by every host. AFIK, PT, Sonar, Reaper are the few that can.

Hi,
not all hosts allow for this. Pro Tools, Reaper and Sonar does and Studio One does with a workaround. It is not a flaw in the plugin but a host limitation. You can’t even drag MIDI to the OS (e.g. the Desktop) from Logic.
You could export the MIDI to the Desktop and then to the EZkeys interface.
EDIT: Scott beat me to it

Do you mean I should be able to drag from a track in Reaper and back into EZKeys. It doesn’t work for me (latest Reaper 64-bit).
Also, why can’t I drag from the song track in EZKeys to my own folders? Doesn’t look like I can expand the library at all.
tombuur,
you can drag a song from EZKeys to the desktop. Likewise, you can drag any midi file from the desktop into EZ Keys. It may be at this time that the extra step of “desktop” is what’s holding you back, I have Sonar and everything works fine.

You should be able to drag and drop from Reaper into the EZkeys Song Track or any folder in the EZkeys Favorites section. Hold down Ctrl + Alt (PC) before selecting the midi item in the Track Panel in Reaper then drag to EZkeys.
By ‘my own folders’ are you referring to ‘Favorites’ folders in EZkeys? If so, yes, you should be able to drag and drop from Reaper to Favorites folders in EZkeys. If you are referring to some Windows folder you created on your system, yes, you should be able to drag and drop MIDI from EZkeys to folders there as well.

Thanks it works.
Deceived by the folder structure of the browser in EZK I thought I could drag files around in there too. But seemingly I have to go via the Windows folder system. But okay.
So I can actually expand the library with my own midi, and there are loads of midi piano and organ etc. out there from which you can steal a couple of bars here and there.
It does not work in PT, at least for me… can someone do it?
Hi Alejandro,
dragging from the host to a plug-in is prohibited by Pro Tools, not much to do about it, I’m afraid. If you right-click a file in the Clip bin in PT, you can ‘Reveal in Finder’ and drag from there to e.g. Bandmate, as a workaround.

John

I have the same issue in Ableton Live 11 (Windows 10). When I drag a Midi file from inside the same project in ableton live to EZKey Bandmate, it does not work, but doing the same procedure in Cubase 12 works fine, so weird.

EZkeys version: 2.0.2
Operating system: Windows 10
Not all (actually very few) DAWs support dragging files from host to a plugin.
