Hey Everyone!
Recently upgraded to EZK2 (great update overall!) and am trying to improve my songwriting workflow. My main controller keyboard is configured to transmit the keys data on MIDI ch 1, and the drum pads on ch 10. Ive verified this is working via the Midi Monitor in Studio One 6 Pro, my DAW. I have EZ Drummer responding on (ONLY) ch 10, but I cannot find any way to set (limit) EZK2 input channel. Ive browsed the forums and the manual, and even tried in Standalone mode. It seems EZ Keys is hardcoded to respond to Omni input? Could this be right? What am I missing? I want to be able to monitor drums (EZD) and keys (EZK) at the same time, but the keys are responding to all input channels.
Thanks for any insight!
Bob

“I believe that is a feature that will be implemented in an update. Brad’s screenshot isn’t accurate to the currently released version. I do not have an ETA on the update release as is currently being beta tested.”
@Scott – I understand you may have limited ability to discuss too much detail about upcoming releases, but can you please confirm that a user-selectable MIDI Input channel, is definitely in the short-term roadmap for EZK? I just downloaded a demo of EZBass, and unfortunately I see the same missing feature there, so I’d really like to know about EZB also, before I can commit to that product. Is the feature in the short-term roadmap for EZB too?
I don’t mean to press you on this, but I’m just trying to determine whether I need to help “fight” for this important feature by submitting feature requests for BOTH products, or whether this is a known-shortcoming and already being planned in upcoming patches/maintenance releases of both products. I’m honestly surprised this feature is missing in the big release of EZK2, and so I’m a little worried that EZK and EZB may not fit my needs without cumbersome workarounds, unless this feature is added. Selectable MIDI input channel will make EZK and EZB consistent with EZD, and greatly improve the flexibility and workflow options for both products.
Any additional info MOST appreciated.
Thank you!

Simply put, I can’t really comment on any features in future releases. Either because I’m under an NDA or I just don’t know what the developers are including in any given release.

so, no roadmaps that the dev team / product manager could share? or acknowledge that the MIDI input selection will be available at all?

Hello,
In DAW Reaper (WINDOWS 10), I receive all MIDI input data (channel 1 … channel 16) on a track named “MIDI IN”. Then, from that track “MIDI IN” I send, for instance, MIDI data on channel 1 to a track “EZkeys” and MIDI data on track 10 to a track named “EZdrummer”.

Thanks to Toontrack for releasing this update, and thanks for confirming, Glenn.
I have installed 2.0.2 and verified the MIDI channel is now available. But it seems I am still clearly doing something wrong, as I still cannot get this to work. I welcome any further ideas (and likely some humor at my expense), in the hopes that others may learn along side me in this. Just not sure what I am doing wrong. I’ve even RTFM, so that tells you how puzzled I’ve gotten. HA!
Arturia keyboard – keys transmit on Ch 1, pads on Ch 10. EZK and EZD Instrument tracks in Studio One, configured the same, as are both EZK and EZD.
Studio One MIDI monitor confirms data on Ch 1 & 10 as expected. EZK and EZD will both not respond, if I change the Instrument tracks outputs to be anything other than Channels 1 & 10, respectively. However, when I set them, uh… correctly, to channels 1 and 10, BOTH instruments respond to data on EITHER 1 OR 10. I just don’t get it.
@Brad – I see you also have Studio One (I am running Pro 6.2.1.x (current). What am I missing?
Thanks Bob
one note: particularly for folks new to MIDI – is ch. 10 historically is for drums / percussion 🙂 and some products (older ones) can generate (or not) inconsistent results when ch 10 is used for non-percussion synth. weird but happens.
EZD -- set to ch 10 and track channel set to ch 10 - works.
set track to ch 5 nada = expected.
set EZD to ch 5 - works.
set track to ch 10 (leaving drums set to ch 5) nada = expected (just in case a default to ch 10 :-) )
EZK -- set to ch 3 and track channel set to ch 3 - works.
set track to ch 2 - nada = expected.
set EZK to ch 2 - works.
note — i haven’t tested the program change.
I’m using Cakewalk by Bandlab v2022.11 build 021 64-bit
