I need help to understand the setup involved in using the EZDrummer2 for a live gig,I have Roland TD27 kit interfaced with EZD2, I never used it for a live gig, but would like to trigger the EZD for the obvious reason of best drum patches than Roland. Do I need to run the cables between my laptop to front house mix OR what is the optimal setup in a live gig. Please let me know
Your audio interface going into a Stereo DI Box is most sensible to me.

Thanks for the response and I subscribed to your Youtube channel, I see lot of good stuff out there for EZD……… I don’t have any audio interface in current setup,I am directly hooked in the module to Mac.Could you please share some more details on the setup you suggested
I only have a moment to respond. But I could link some stuff later. If you check out my Roland TD-4 vid on my channel, you’ll see DI box near the beginning of the vid. A simple $100 audio interface will cover it assuming you have decent computer specs.
Thanks for the sub, btw!

Thanks for your time. Btw I have a Focusrite audio interface, currently using it for a mic setup and never connected to drums. I can get a DI. Yes pls, If you could link something later, That would be great. A run down of cables from & to would be really helpful. Thanks for your time again.
Typical live workflow:
V-kit>USB Cable>Computer.
In EZD2, select kit via Settings>Audio/Midi Setup>Midi Device.
In EZD2, select Audio Interface via Settings>Audio/Midi Setup>Audio Device.
Audio Interface>Pair of Unbalanced cables (guitar cable)>Stereo DI box>show the sound guy your DI box or plug it into your mixing board (via XLR). If you bought a Passive DI box, tell the sound guy you need Phantom Power, or engage Phantom Power on your mixing board.
Done.
“IF” your audio interface has Balanced Outputs (microphone cable/XLR), you technically don’t need a DI box. You could just plug right into the stage box (patchbay/snake) at the venue. The average club sound guy might not like this though since there are no pad or grounding options that a DI box typically provides.
DI:
I own a lot of these. BUT, the cheaper ones require phantom power. So you may run into some issues at low budget venues/shows. They are called “Passive” DI’s. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MDB2P–mackie-mdb-2p-stereo-passive-direct-box
Pay some extra cash for an “Active” DI and be ready for most situations. They typical need a 9v battery or something to power them. I do not own a stereo active DI, so I do not have a recommendation.
If you just want to get it done, this will work. If you’re looking to really know what’s going on and look at options, check out the vdrums.com forums. They are elite compared to my knowledge.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. Let me run this setup and try it out as this is the first time. I’ll get back if I have some doubts. Thanks for your time. One basic question. Why do we need the audio interface , Cant the TD27 module act as an interface?
I’ve not read the manual of the TD27. My question would be, how would EZD2 get it’s sound back to the TD27 from your computer? I use an old TD4 and a TD25. Neither can do this type of workflow that you’re hoping for without an audio interface. Maybe the TD27 can.

@Shootiehg – I would like to share a followup update to this thread. There is an option in TD27 module to route the direct out from USB multi channel out to direct out. Its under output settings, currently it defaults to headphone. This allows us to get the EZD out to a PA without an interface or anyother workarounds. But thanks for your time on this. -D
