We just updated our computer and we are trying to upload ezdrummer to sonar 8.5pe. We also got the metal heads and vintage rock. It’s been a couple years since I faced this nightmare lasttime and I can’t remember how I fixed it before. Here’s what I’ve done and where I’m stuck.
Downloaded EZD, along with the update, then 32 bit first then 64bit.
Downloaded metal heads and vintage
Made it through the unzipping the file and install of all of it (BTW that took 4 times until I finally figured out that I hadn’t unzipped the file and kept getting errors “1309”)
I can now see EZD and it uploads to toontrack solo (also can see metal and vintage) so I know it’s there and on the system.
Now Sonar…
Added the ezdrummer.dll in the VST plug in’s so now it does upload the synth rack and can see the drums visually. Even uploads on separate midi tracks. Unfortunately when it uploads in sonar, it does not upload the drums. Sits at 0MB.
I ensured we were on midi, standard instruments is not checked (tip from MODBOD) and pretty much have tried every combination therein.
I have been everywhere looking for an answer. I used default uploads, so the folders are as they loaded, I even made sure not to move any folders sounds etc because I saw that was a bad idea (tip from another forum)
I suspect I have the folder linked wrong or there is a button deep in sonar somewhere that is not allowing it to upload. Any ideas?
My first guess is that you haven’t actually loaded the 64-bit version of EZdrummer in Sonar 64-bit. You are indeed running a true 64-bit environment, right?
The easiest way to check this is to look in the EZdrummer plugin interface (lower right) and see if it reports V. 1.2.1 (64-bit).
If it isn’t, you are actually loading the wrong version and need to review your VST Search path settings. Remove any path/linking to the 32-bit version plugin and make sure the path to the 64-bit version is included.

Just figured part of it out. Got it to upload now. Almost there. I had the wrong folder for the VST plug in. For anyone else experiencing this it is under your c drive program files/vstplugins/toontrack/64x
Now I have another issue. When you hit the drums the sound comes out right but there is a static delay that comes out after of 10 to 12 hits. so drum sound followed by buzz buzz buzz buzz etc. It does not do this in toontracksolo when I hit the drums.
Got an idea on the settings?
You might have to increase your playback latency setting in the Audio Options.

I have exactly the same problem (although I’ve posted in the wrong section!) but mine definitely says 1.2.1 and I’m getting no sounds out of it.
I’ll delete any paths leading to the 32bit version and try re-linking the new plugin folder.
Cheers!
James.
but mine definitely says 1.2.1 and I’m getting no sounds out of it.
…but, does it say ‘1.2.1 (64-bit)’?

Hey James, If you used the defaults like I did and did the upgrade to 64, then this should be your link for VST plug in. C:program filesVSTplugin’stoontrack64bit. For whatever reason when I searched the system for the EZdrummer.dll file, the only one that came up was the one in the downloads which links to the 32bit from what I’ve gathered. Kinda have the buddy system going here. Hope that helps you.
Thanks Modbod and John for your help. Hey modbod, I tried changing the audio settings for the latency, everything from 85 to 341. No dice, just slower to do the static rings although not as many 🙂 What else do you think it could be?
MRD Music,
you may have to go higher still on your Hardware Buffer, depending on your Audio interface. Is it an ASIO insterface? Do you have updated drivers for it?

As suggested above, I use ASIO drivers in SONAR. Since SONAR 8, they work better.
Also check your advanced audio options and make sure Trigger and Freewheel is selected.
Maybe turn off dithering and see if that helps.
