Hi all. I just changed my operating system from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
I re-installed my Sonar 7 Producer software and my EZ Drummer software but, Sonar does not recognize EZ Drummer!!
On opening Sonar I can see that it is scanning and I see all the EZ stuff….but after the program opens up it says
“The following plug-in could not be found e.g EZ Drummer, EZ Player, Superior Drummer..(which I also have)”
It does not appear in the Insert Soft Synths and in the Global Section I can see it in the added folder section!!
Can anybody PLEASE…..help with this!!!!
Thank you all for your time.
Gerry Lane
hi – is Sonar the 64 bit version? if so you need to install the 64 bit version of your Toontrack programs. Make sure to install them in your preferred VST folder or alternatively point Sonar to the default path for our installers:
C:Program Files (x86)VSTPlugins for the 32 bit
C:Program FilesVSTPlugins for the 64 bit

Thanked by: Gerry Lane Hi RM.
I just saw your answer…..thank you very much for that.
I will try what you have suggested.
Take care.
Gerry.

Hi Rm.
I did all that you suggested…..and I got it to work….thanks a million.
Now, the problem I have is….Ez Drummer plays fine for a while but every so often it just freezes up and I have to shut down Sonar and re-open it again to get it going. It also happens when I try to drag and drop the patterns into Sonar!!!
What could be causing this and how can I sort it out……any ideas RM???
Thank you for your time.
Gerry.

Are you 100% sure you are using the 64-bit version? Does it read (64-bit) right next to the 1.2.1 version number in the plugin interface?

Hi John.
Thank you for getting back to me.
I think that you are right….it does not say 64bit on the plugin interface.
One of the Toontrack tech people told me to download this : https://www.toontrack.com/downloadfile.asp?id=334535&prod=7&file=EZdrummer_WIN_121.zip&upid=186 EZdrummer 1.2.1 for Windows XP or newer 2010-07-05 22, 8 MB
So, I’m guessing that it is not the 64bit version. Where can I download that john?
Thanks again.
Gerry Lane
Your products page is where you would find the 64 bit download.

The only download for EZ Drummer PC version on my product page Dave is this: EZdrummer WIN 121.zip (which I already downloaded and apparently is not the 64bit version)

There are 2 installers in the ‘EZdrummer_WIN_121.zip’ download. One named ‘EZdrummer 32 bit Update.exe’ and one named ‘EZdrummer 64 bit Update.exe’. In addition, there is the all important ‘Important ReadMe.rtf’.

Hi Scott.
Yes, I did read the ‘Important ReadMe.rtf document.
I actually uninstalled all my Toontracks stuff and reinstalled EZ Drummer again…(from the disc) in my VST folder. Then I installed the 32bit update…(like it said on the ‘Important ReadMe.rtf document….and then I installed the 64bit update….it still dosent say 64bit on the plugin interface but…when I open up Sonar…it does say 64bit…..and, still the same problem….everything just freezes up. So, at this stage I’m about ready to just forget about the whole thing…..I’ve lost enough time on it…..(and I haven’t even started on Superior Drummer yet!!!)
Gerry Lane
In Sonar, do you need to set a path to the 64-bit plugin folder where you installed the 64-bit version of EZdrummer?

Sonar picked it up Scott no problem….it all opens up ok and if I click on a drum…snare, tom etc…it sound good….I can audition the grooves but after a while, it just freezes up. If I drag the groove into Sonar….and try to play it…NOTHING. I can see the groove but no sound and then it just freezes up as well!!

Are you using Sonar 7? if so then one point I need to make is that it would not have been tested under Windows 7 and I certainly expect Cakewalk to have improved their 64 bit driver support in the last 18 months i.e Sonar 8.x
Then again Sonar might not be at fault but your Audio driver is – although that would not explain the drag and drop problem.
… I’m still confused as to whether you are looking at the 64 bit version of EZdrummer though:
it still dosent say 64bit on the plugin interface but…when I open up Sonar…it does say 64bit
what do you mean by this? are you using Toontrack solo and dragging from it into Sonar? if so that’s not how it works. Please clarify.

Yes, I’m using Sonar 7 Producer but only for my Toontracks stuff…..I use another program for recording.
I am using the Line6 UX 2 soundcard and I have updated all my drivers on that. The PC is new….7Gigs of ram. I will check for improved drivers for Sonar.
As you probably read above RM…I did a re-install of everything…..first from the original disc, then the 32bit upgrade and finally the 64bit upgrade….(but it does not read (64-bit) right next to the 1.2.1 version number in the plugin interface!!)
I open EZ Drummer inside Sonar and drag the patterns in from there…..the pattern goes in perfectly….I do NOT drag the the patterns in just from Toontracks Solo software.
Thanks for the help RM……I really am close to just getting rid of it all and look for an alternative….I’ve lost so much time on this.

again, as pointed by Scott, In Sonar, you need to set a path to the 64-bit plugin folder where you installed the 64-bit version of EZdrummer. By default that means C:Program FilesVSTPlugInsToontrack64bit, although you were given the opportunity to directly install in your Cakewalk folder during the installation process.
… the bottom line is that if the interface does not say ’64-bit’ in the bottom right corner of the EZdrummer interface, you are using the 32 bit through the ‘bitbridge’, a 100% UNsupported environment.
