Hello!
would somebody explain me step by step How to use ezdrummer 3 on my Roland Td-17? I’ve downloaded the drivers, set everything up as the youtube tutorials say but i still listen my module’s sounds.
actually i conect my laptop with the usb and i cannot listen the sounds from my computer. It triggers the module’s sounds.
When i hit the pads the ezdrummers instruments triggers but i still listen to roland’s kits.
thanks in advance
If you’re still hearing the module sounds, then your speaker or headphones are still plugged in your module? They need to be plugged into your computer or laptop.
I switched to asio but i plug the headphones to the module. If i plug them to the computer it doesnt works.
The headphones need to be plugged into your laptop. The only thing your USB cable does is send midi data to trigger the sounds in EZD3. It doesn’t send the sounds to your module. Are you using an audio interface or the asio4all drivers?
– In order to use the USB audio functionality, you must first install the TD-17 USB driver downloadable from the Roland website. Set the USB Driver Mode to “VENDOR”, and install the USB driver in your computer before making a USB connection.
– If you do not want to hear the module sounds you can also go into the TD-17 settings and select ‘Local Control’ ‘Off’

Thanked by: aarlan and Alex HartmannHello Damian. I did all that and worked fine. My only doubt is whats the difference between plugging the headphones to the module and plugging it in the laptop? Does it make any difference?
If you are using the module as an audio interface you need to have the headphones plugged in to that. If you plug your headphones into the laptop you will need to use the onboard audio device and switch the driver in EZdrummer 3 or your DAW.
I would recommend you use the TD-17 as an audio interface as the quality would likely be better.

thanks for your help!
hi. is it possible to set the td-17 as the audiointerface? i plugged it into my extern scarlett2i2 interface, but sound is weak. i run it through logic, because standalone isnt possible to download. thank you
Hi,
AFAICT, the TD-17 can be used as a USB Audio Interface, if you the right driver installed and selected but support for your specific module is better performed by Roland.

hi. is it possible to set the td-17 as the audiointerface?
I wouldn’t use a Roland module as an audio interface for VSTi-e-drumming (especially not on Windows PC and especially not if I hadn’t a monster of a CPU) as the performance is quite awful (of course it was not made for real time audio!)
Connect your Scarlett LINE OUTs to a decent phone amp – that will bring you high quality sound (and will be loud enough even on raw drum audio) along with quite good performance on a capable real-time-audio-optimized computer. My recommendation if you want to get better: use RME devices – you even won’t need an additional phone amp when using i.e. a BabyfaceProFs or a AIO Pro card 🙂 .
