I have a couple questions about the kicks. I am using the EZX Metal library and when I trigger the kick drum it alternates back and forth between the left and right kicks even though I’m using the MIDI note for the right kick. In the MIDI map I can clearly see there are different MIDI triggers for left vs. right kick, but for me if it doesn’t matter which MIDI note I trigger, it just alternates back and forth between the left and right kicks. How do I change this?
I also hear a clear difference between the different sounds even though they are using the same exact sample. I know there is probably supposed to be some degree of randomness between sample triggers but in my case it’s clear there is some other difference here either in tuning or something else. I could close my eyes and tell you whether it’s triggering left or right, so it seems like there is some other setting that’s affecting the sounds here but they’re tuned the same so I don’t know what it would be.
The only way to stop the alternating kicks is to switch off the multiple samples, which will make fast rolls sound like a machine gun.
The different tones in the two kicks is down to them two drums of different sizes.
You can switch off one of the kicks, by right-clicking it and choosing ‘None’.

Thanked by: msintrosThank you, I also figured out that where I was selecting the sounds for the kick drums it’s a little deceptive – when you have the left kick selected, “kick 2” is at the top of the list of the available sounds and “kick 1” below, and if you have the right one selected “kick 1” is at the top and “kick 2” below. So I did actually have different sounds set for each of the kicks.
I’d still kinda like to know what the point of being able to set individual MIDI note assignments for the left vs. the right kick is if those assignments don’t actually do anything. *shrug*

I would guess that the option to trigger 2 (two) different kick samples with 1 (one) MIDI note assignment
is offered for those without the ability to trigger 2 different MIDI note assignments; i.e. single kick e-kits, etc.
I simply unload the left kick if it sounds too different. Round robin takes it from there.

I’d welcome Kick 1 triggering one and Kick 2 triggering the other, but I’m learning to live with it as it is.
Yeah I can live with it now. I’m just kind of baffled as to why they even differentiate between kick 1 and 2 in the MIDI settings if those settings apparently don’t actually do anything, which makes me feel like I MUST be missing something.
I’ve put in midi events as kick 1 kick 2, and got it to play left left right right
How are you doing that? No matter what I do it just goes left right left right. And I now see why that is, I think. In the MIDI map I can see that kick 1 and kick 2 are both set to “left” but I don’t see anywhere that I can change one of them to “right.”

My mistake. Set events to kick 2 kick 2 / kick 1 kick 1 / kick 2 kick 2 / kick 1 kick 1. Do it as fourths or eighths with one drum tuned up or down, and it’s quite something.
