while you’re waiting on a fix – does this issue happen in the standalone version vs when its running in the DAW? if not, maybe creating the MIDI parts in the standalone and importing that into the DAW project would at least get your working again.

I cannot get it to crash in standalone. Seriously, I tried.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do appreciate that you seem concerned about customer satisfaction.

EZ3 is fantastic for quickly discovering a beat that works with all my tracks. Nothing is better. Period. Truly love EZ3. It’s changed everything for me.

But it has to be open inside Digital Performer to make fast and relevant decisions. Working from the stand alone is clunky, time consuming, and would make me not want to use EZ3. I’ve tried it and would prefer jumping off a bridge. (no pun intended on the bridge part.)

So, let’s just get it fixed so music composing and recording for clients can return to normal.

    Please advise.

sorry – i don’t work for toontrack, simply another user suggesting a way to get you working again and so as not to lose your client or business.

as far as the product working, i’m using Cakewalk on a PC and all the toontrack products work perfectly in the DAW and standalone mode.

based on your descriptions (like rapid mouse movements etc), it seems likely there is a UI contention issue on the Mac version when it’s running in the DAW.

just curious – if you use another DAW (like Logic or Presonus Studio, etc) do you experience the same issue?

    Toontrack,

    I love Toontracks!

So much so that I just spent $3,500+ upgrading to an Mac M1, DP 11, and other hardware with hopes the Toontrack crashes would END.

But unfortunately, I’m following your protocols I select a midi block BEFORE dragging the groove to the timeline and, yes it slows down the crashing. However, not all the time. It should not ever be crashing. But maybe I’m expecting too much of TOONTRACKS?

Bottom line is that Toontrack is still reliably crashing. It’s driving me insane.

WHEN IS TOONTRACKS GOING TO SUPPORT US WITH RELIABLE PRODUCT BY FIXING THE BUGs?

In past posts, I’ve submitted crash reports and Toontracks has admitted the bug will be fixed in an update.

It’s been months. Great concept. Stellar ideas. Amazing sounds! Poor support. I hate myself b/c I’ve fallen in love with software I can’t trust.

unfortunately h/w cannot stop memory leaks and writes on protected memory from other programs. especially *nix based which do not have protected memory permissions like Windows does (and even then a poorly written software can still punch it…). my $1000 laptop can run the EZK, EZB, and EZD apps + my DAW (Cakewalk) which has Kontakt running 5-6 instruments all simultaneously. and to-date (6 months?) not a single crash due to those apps (some flakey UI stuff in CW (which was fixed) and some 32-bit plugins i had running did and subsequently got rid of in my workflow).

so maybe the DAW you’re using? or something in the OS? patch levels? plugins?

    Toontrack,

Your response to ticket #3180919 does make sense to me. Please read my post Daron Powers at ticket #3180919 and respond to that request. Thank you.

    Hi there,

Over the last few months, I have been using EZD3 without issues that is until this morning. I have compiled drums for 40 songs, and now, out of nowhere, my projects will not open in EZD3. Every time I try to open a specific project, it loads to the default kit every time without any drum samples being loaded. I use the Drums of Destruction pack, and while I can load that separately, none of the 40 songs I have spent months creating are loading. I can access all songs from their files, but when I try to open them, it loads the default kit without any drum samples in the ”Groove Line” each and every time now. I need to know if uninstalling and reinstalling will help, or if I do that, will I lose months and months of work?? I cannot redo all this work, and this project is set for future release. I have spent a considerable amount of money on Toontrack over the years between Superior Drummer and now EZD3, as well as different midi samples and packs, but this has left me completely at a loss, I’m fuming to be completely honest.

    Kindest regards,

    Dec
