EZ Drummer 2 Metal Kit

Hello. A drummer friend of mine loves the Metal Kit in EZD2. I use it with his MIDI when I mix for him.

He eventually wants to get EZD so he can have the Metal kit himself. But from what I am reading, the Metal kit will not be in EZD3. And if I am reading things correctly, there will be no way for him to get the Metal kit after May 3rd. He has to buy EZD2 before May 3rd.  Am I understanding that correctly? Does he only have until May 3rd to ensure he can get the Metal kit?

Also, I understand that EZD3 will not overwrite EZD2. But will the EZD2 kits be available in EZD3, and vice versa? Can I take a kick from EZD2 and use it in an EZD3 kit?  Will my friend, if he buys EZD2 now, be able to take his EZD2 Metal kit and use a china from an EZD3 kit?

Hi, Thanks for your questions.

When you say the Metal Kit, are you referring to one of the kits in the EZdrummer 2 core library or a metal expansion pack (EZX)?

The two sound libraries from The EZD2 core library will be available as expansion packs to be used in EZdrummer 3

All EZXs will also work in EZdrummer 3.

 

And just like you can replace instruments in EZdrummer 2 and choose between elements from different EZXs, you can replace a kick or snare in an EZdrummer 3 kit with one from an EZX or the EZdrummer 2 core library

 

If you purchase EZdrummer 2 now, you will get a free Upgrade to EZdrummer 3 once it’s released. EZdrummer 3 will not overwrite EZdrummer 2.

Yes, the Metal Kit is in one of the EZD2 core libraries. It is in the MODERN library, it is simply named METAL.

You wrote that my friend could replace a kick or snare in an EZdrummer 3 kit with one from the EZdrummer 2 core library. Great. Will the opposite be true? Would he be able to open the EZD2 Metal kit inside EZD2 and grab a drum or cymbal from the EZD3 library?

I ask because he could save some money buying EZD2 now as opposed to buying EZD3 later and having to buy the EZD2 core library expansion packs later. He could just keep using EZD2 for the METAL kit.

Yes. The EZD2 core libraries Modern & Vintage are going to be available as an EZX come EZdrummer 3 release. If you purchase EZdrummer 2 right now during the EZD3 pre-order promotion, you will get access to that EZX and a free upgrade to EZdrummer 3 on May 3rd.
