First, let me say that the sounds of both packages are great. My problem is that I want to build custom sequences in Anvil Studio – a midi editor. When I compose and preview using the standard midi mapped instruments in Anvil, it sounds fine. I create a new track in my DAW (Reaper) and add EZ Drummer as the vgi – so far so good. Right off the bat I notice 2 things – I can choose an EZ Drummer 2 kit or a Latin Percussion kit, but not both – or am I wrong about this? When I import the Anvil-created pattern, it sounds nothing like it. I suspect the midi mapping needs to be reconfigured. So to the good folks at Toontrack (or a kind and wise super-user), 2 things I’d like resolved after spending $230 USD on the 2 packages:
1. How do I combine the 2 kits (EZ Drummer + Latin Percussion) so I don’t have to deconstruct my Anvil pattern?
2. What is the procedure to re-map the pattern to match EZ Durmmer?
Sorry, as you can see, I’m getting frustrated here…

Hi,
combining the Latin Percussion EZX with another EZX inside of 1 single instance of EZdrummer 2 is not possible.
Please use 2 instances with each loaded and split your MIDI so the drums part feed one and the percussion part the other one.
Anvil is not on the supported hosts list and I have no personal experience with it but if it follows General MIDI, there should be no problems at all, since EZdrummer 2 is GM compatible.

Thank you John for your quick reply. Not the answer I was hoping for but that’s okay. Can you please share the list of supported host midi editors? Here is how my pattern is mapped:
Instrument Midi Note Value
Stick 31
Bass drum 36
Closed HH 42
Crash Cym 49
Shaker 82
I think these follow the MMA GM Midi standard. Attached is the file.

Scroll down to the bottom of the EZD2 product page to see the compatibility list.

Thanks Scott – got it. I redid the pattern using GM note 38: side kick, instead of stick. And that at least cured the unexpected rendering in EZ Drummer. The only strange behavior now is that in Reaper, when I just insert a midi pattern into my track lane, the first note is “choked” (i.e., a weird thump). Work around is to open EZ Drummer and find the file with the browser, drag it into the preview player and then drag it from there into the DAW track lane. Seems like a lot to get it to do what I want.
With the latin percussion track, I’m not too keen on the power hand feature. If I have a conga backbeat, with maracas doing 8th notes throughout the pattern, I don’t want the maracas to dominate. I had to go back into the Reaper midi view and manually lower the volume for the maracas. Any way to get EZ Drummer to accept all the original note velocities/volumes in the mid file?
Thanks again for your timely assistance.

EZdrummer 2 shouldn’t affect the velocity unless you edit it in Edit Play Style.
If you are raising the Velocity in Edit Play Style, make sure you only have the instrument you want to affect selected.

Hi! I recently bought the Latin Percussion kit and I’m also using the Reggae kit, I have two EZDrummer 2 applications set on 2 different tracks my problem here is that my MIDI keyboard controller only works on the Reggae kit but not the Percussion kit. I only want to use my MIDI controller ONLY on the Latin Percussion kit. I’m using Pro Tools 11. I’d appreciate the help. Thank you!
