Have you set the key to G in EZ before you bring the MIDI file in?

No, I haven’t tried that…I thought EZB was supposed to analyze the track and correctly identify it.  I’ll give that a whirl.  But so far EZB has been pretty buggy in Studio One 5.

Agree. See my post about problems with EZB interpreting EKZ MIDI. Maybe should’ve waited for version 2.0. 😉

    Yep.

I’m also using Studio One 5 Professional (updated to latest version as well5.2.0.63799) and with EZ Bass, it randomly plays back in the wrong key. If I solo the track while it’s playing and then unsold it, it snaps back to the right key. So far, when exporting songs, it hasn’t exported in the wrong key but, it is frustrating when mixing. Is this an EZ Bass issue or a Studio One issue, I wonder?

I’m using EZ Bass 1.0.7 and it looks like there’s a 1.0.8 out. I’ll update and see of that helps.

Ya, I immediately noticed the incorrect key being assigned or the incorrect chords upon importing (drop and drag) a midi file.  Ended up just rewritting them.  And what is with no drag and drop from Reaper into EZBass?  This works fine in EZKeys and it is as old as dirt.  Had to first export midi content to desktop before dragging and dropping and then it messed up the chord assignments.  Strange behavior for a product which is a year old.  Why isn’t these issues being reported on the web?   Only major and minor chords….  Only 1 sound file available across all strings and frets for each note….  no drag and drop from the DAW….  key and chord miss assignments….   Maybe I need to give it more time. I have only just purchased it a day ago…

    Hi,

But I’ve been using EZ DRUMMER, EZ Keys and EZBASS for Years on all the updated Versions and This is still an issue…I’m actually creating EZKEYS midi and then trying to import it into EZBASS in the same key E Maj, BUT it IMEDIATELY changes the chords. If I set EZBASS to C Maj and import midi it stays in the right chords?? So I’m now in a totally different key and if I want to make changes to the midi in EZBASS I have to mentally transpose….What am I mising here Plz?

    Thx, Jeff

SOLVED: Go to the TRANSPOSE menu at the bottom of Key list

I tried using the Transpose function on an imported midi file.

If I set the Key before dropping the midi file on the track, it transposes the chords by an interval that makes no sense.

For example I have a bass line in Eminor.  If I import it with the key set to C, the midi plays correctly, although some assigned chords are wrong.  The difference is C major to Eminor, a third or sixth depending on how you look at it.

If I set the key to Eminor and drop the file on the track, it transposes the file to Bminor, a fifth away, which makes zero sense.  It still assigns the wrong chords.

If I rewrite the chords, the midi is transposed to wrong notes.

Leave the key at the key of C. Then drag or import midi in and scroll down to NO TRANSPOSE. It opens another KEY menu, then choose your Key that you wrote it in. 👌

I appreciate you walking me through it.  I tried what you suggested in many ways.  However, the No Transpose selection seems to do nothing to affect that the midi line still has wrong chords names associated with the line.  If I then type in the correct chords to correct the chord mis-assignment, it transposes the line.

The screen capture shows what I am dealing with.  The bass line is 8 bars of 4/4 in Eminor.  Once I drop the midi file on to the track, and try to add chord blocks, it arbitrarily decides that the measures are 3/4 and that some of the chords are C and Bminor.  It doesn’t seem to matter at what point in the process I change the key to Eminor with No Transpose; the incorrect chords are still there.  If I type in the correct chord names, it transposes the bass line for those bars.Capture-12
