hi everyone, when i downloaded SD3 i did what was suggested and put the sound files on a separate external hard drive. everything was working fine until about two days ago.
when i would click on the icon to “safely remove hard drive” i stopped getting the “safe to remove” message.
as i understand things (which is not much) it’s very bad to just disconnect the H/D or memory stick etc. because all kinds of nasty things could happen and i don’t want to spend hours redownloading SD3 again. looking online i see that some people actually shut down their computer then reboot the next day. i always thought that doing that puts a lot of stress on the machine so i would always put the computer to sleep. however, with the external H/D i’m not sure what i should do. is it safe to just unplug the H/D? and turning my computer on and off everyday going to kill my computer?
can anyone tell me if they know anything about this?
i would appreciate any thoughts or ideas you may have.
jp

I personally would turn my computers off every day. I’ve always found they run quicker after a reboot. The longer a computer is left on the more it slows down and exhibits strange behaviour.
