I assume with your first question you are using EZD2 in Standalone mode (all by itself). If you use logic, you need to create an instrument track (maybe called a midi track) in Logic, and use EZD2 inside of Logic. At that point you will have complete control of EZD2 in real-time while you work on your song in Logic. No need to import/export anything from EZD2, it’s already there in your Logic session. This is the workflow you want to learn.

There are many ways you can do this. You can literally open your whole song in the Edit Play Style feature and Copy the snare, and paste the snare into it’s own midi block in the song track, and have your whole song just as a snare. Or maybe if you have EZD2 and Logic working correctly together, you can just Solo/Mute what you want to hear in the EZD2 mixer. Or you can drag your midi from EZD2, into it’s own track in Logic, and edit whatever you want if you use the Piano Roll in Logic. Or in Logic, you can use as many instances of EZD2 as your computer can handle. Sky is the limit. There’s more ways you can do it, depends on your purpose. Hope that helps.

In Logic, create new Software Instrument track. Find EZD2 in the drop down menu. Start using EZD2 like this.

    Hello again shootiehg,

I easily see EZD2 when I create a software instrument in Logic. But I don’t know exactly how to use it.

Also, when Idrag a EZD2 file into that track, I cannot see anything in the piano roll editor. Any ideas? Or maybe you have a tutorial about that ?

I have check your youtube page but maybe I missed something?

    Thanks for your help.

There are a lot of different workflows. Everyone is different with their preference.

I’ll make an assumption to get you started.

Open the EZD2 standalone project you’ve been working on, and save it to your computer on an obvious location. Then open Logic, open EZD2 on a Software Track, as discussed in previous post. In EZD2 (in Logic), open the standalone file you recently saved from the “Menu”. Now your EZD2 project is in Logic. I would continue to build out your song here inside EZD2. When you get to a point where you can not go any further in EZD2 and you want to use Logic’s Piano Roll, literally Select All in the EZD2 Songtrack, and literally drag your midi files out of the EZD2’s Songtrack, into your Logic midi track. You can literally drag midi from Logic to EZD2 and visa-versa… over and over, back and forth depending on your preference of editing the drums.

*at some point you may hear your drums twice since it’s in EZD2 and Logic’s midi track at the same time. You can select “Follow Host” in EZD2, or simply Select All in your EZD2 Songtrack, Right-click and select mute. This will make sense when your get there.

    Hello,

I did all you mention above. I notice I can see (in Logic) the track in score instead of piano roll.

There is definitly something I do wrong. Maybe it is the way I save the file from standalone in EZD2.

I don’t know. But thanks for you patience and time. It is greatly appreciated. I’ll continu searching.

    Regards.

I don’t know the Logic terminology or how to navigate it’s interface, I don’t use it.

You don’t have to use the Piano Roll in Logic. But if you chose to, because you need that much editing capability with EZD2, just watch some Logic Tutorials on it’s Piano Roll. Score editor is not what you want, as I’m sure you’ve figured out.

I’m not sure if what you need is this info…

Open the Piano Roll Editor as a separate window

1.Choose Window > Open Piano Roll (or press Command-4).

2.Drag the Piano Roll Editor by its title out of the main window.

Finally it is working!!!! As soon as I opened piano roll in a different window, TADAM!!! It appeared.

Thanks for all your advices. I am also watching all your EZD2 videos. Great info.

Is it possible to use ezdrummer 2 tracks created in stand alone on my old Mac and then airdrop/email them to my new Mac to use in Logic Pro X?

Save it to the cloud and you can pick it up from there on your new computer. I do this often with both iCloud and OneDrive.
