How would I expoort a TD50X drum map from one computer to another? I just want to set up my drum map with a computer beside my kit and then use it on my main recording computer.

Hey @Bear-Faced Cow, don’t mean to be nosey but with what are you triggering your finger taps? I’d love to start finger drumming!

    Thanks 🙂

No worries. Got no secrets here. 🙂

These days, I have been using a Native Instruments Maschine for all of my drum programming. It’s highly configurable and allows me to switch pad groupings on the fly which is great if I want to go from a tight tip hi-hat to a more open hat (or even ride cymbals) without having to change the layout of my pads for new instruments. I have mounted on a snare stand so I can use it at a comfortable angle.

Mind you, there are plenty of good MIDI pad controllers out on the market these days.

Thanks man. I actually have Maschine but I never felt the pads were sensitive enough for good ghost notes and hihat patterns like the old MPC’s or Linn 9000 used to be. It’s probably my technique 🙂

Pad sensitivity can be adjusted. After I adjusted mine, I managed to get the ghost notes where I wanted. I also tailor my presets by putting a slight bend in the velocity curve for the ones that I need those ghost notes a little more prominent.

Funny this popped up. This was just getting on my nerves again.

    @Bear-Faced Cow, @Henrik, anyone…

There seems to be implications that I can drag & drop from SD3 and keep my user MIDI In mapping. I’d really appreciate if someone could tell me how.

    Thanks!

Can you explain what you want to accomplish here? I think it’s easier for me (or anyone else) to answer if it’s possible to achieve what you want to, instead of me trying to explain how the entire handling of MIDI is done in SD3 🙂

    For example, write something like:

    • Drag in a MIDI file, where the kick is on note 38
    • Change something so that imported MIDI file plays back correctly
    • Drag the MIDI file to Logic
      • Will the MIDI file play the the kick correctly?

    Any improvements on this?

And why does leaving the custom midi-in mapping active effect the mapping when dragged out? Is there any science to this? Maybe I could create a midi-in map that creates the midi drag-out mapping I want.

Lastly, I’ve set up Studio One’s Chorder to translate SD3’s midi and use its midi out feature to trigger other drum VIs. Works great when auditioning grooves from the groove library. However, once I drag grooves to the SD3 song track, the mapping changes and no longer triggers my other VIs correctly. What could be causing this?

    Studio One v5.5.2, Cubase v12.0.60

I had the drummer send me his preset, I imported the layout from that and was able to change kits without anything weird happening. It was glorious!

    thanks and happy holidays 🙂

I’ll have to geek out and dive into the pad sensitivity. Thanks for the tip.

Apologies for jumping in this, but I thought it was better than starting a new thread.

I want to make sure I’m on the same page here. So, I’m working with a client who wants MIDI but isn’t using SD or EZD. I was going to send the MIDI file with the note info provided with the library, BUT I’ve been using a custom preset for my kit. For the client to get the correct info, I need to disable the preset before exporting, right?
