There is a DW kit in Death and Darkness with a metal snare. As a DW fanatic I’d love to see a full SDX devoted to DW drums. Maybe a full Neil Peart setup?

Thanks for your reaction. I know i use the DW kit from death all the time.

Yeah there are a lot of good and diverse DW kits out there to make a great more modern SDX. (Maybe in a little bit fuller sounding room than death and darkness)

Or a combination with some of the Pearl masters series

That would be so great toontrack!

What I want is a Sonor SQ2 kit!

One hasn’t been sampled since SD3 came out, with Tomas Haake’s Custom in the Metal Foundry SDX being the latest I could find.  But the sound quality and playability improvements since SD3, particularly post Death and Darkness, make the older SDX’s a no go for me.

    Pleeeease Toontrack!

SD3 with Fields of Rock, Death and Darkness, Real to Reel, Legacy of Rock, Stories, Hitmaker, Decades, State of the Art, Stockholm, Jazz Sessions, Hansa, Rock Foundry, Area 33 (in order of preference). Plus a few older SDX's and EZX's.
Into: Reaper with Ryzen 5700x, 32GB RAM and assorted SSD's.
Through: Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 Gen2 USB Audio Interface
From: eDRUMin 10 + eDRUMin 8 with assorted Roland and Yamaha pads.

I’d be most interested in one of those ”legendary producer/engineer” SDX’s they’ve been doing with Eddie Kramer, Frank Filipetti, Al Schmitt and others. Personal favourite would be Daniel Lanois, of course, but there are others, too.

Also, I’d like more SDX’s with the same kits played with both sticks and brushes (and even mallets) like they did with State of the Art SDX (with Elliot Scheiner). Some of us want to combine different tools in a single song, and like to hit more than two toms with the brushes, too! 😎

    The stock library has sticks/rods/brushes.

Yes, the stock library has a kit with brushes and rods and mallets, but only one, and that’s a pretty minimal kit with just two toms and minimal cymbal set. I cant’s say about the Stories  or Jazz Session SDXs as I don’t have them. State of the Art SDX Live Room has the main Craviotto kit both with sticks and brushes (and sticks with wires off).

What I am after is an illusion that on a live session, the drummer switches mid-song from brushes to sticks  for the louder part of the song, and then back again to brushes for the finale. That illusion needs two kits with same drums played with both tools, all drums tuned the same way, with the same cymbals. Also, I’d like my virtual drummer to have more than just two toms and a nice, varied set of cymbals. Stock library Gretsch Round Badge kit works, but is pretty small and limited. So the S.o.t.A Craviotto kit is the one that gets the gig at the time, but with the large selection of stick kits, I would like to have a few more with a tool selection, too.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

    Cheers,

Have you looked at the Ludwig Classic kit? 3 rack toms but not all have the assortment of implements.
