I’d like to emulate the drum sound on the excello recordings of slim harpo and lightnin slim. The main thrust is often a “whomp” on the snare. It is said they sometimes used a rolled up newspaper to to create a massive thick sound. I keep experimenting with snare sounds trying perhaps. The “vintage” set. Suggestions?
