I have ‘Yamaha’ selected as my EDrums in settings, and I’ve tried all the curves and have the Yamaha drivers for MIDI. EZD is version 2.1.6 I am using FL Studio 20
When open, the HH works perfectly, but when closing it I hear the initial scoop of the close sound, but I do not get a closed hat sound when hitting the HH pad. In fact, the HH picture on the VST suddenly jumps back to open, and I hear an open hat.
If I release the pedal the mapping on the hat returns to normal.
As a result of this I also cannot slowly open or close the hat using the pedal.
Edit: Looking back a few pages this seems to be a common issue: https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/ezdrummer-2-and-yamaha-dtx700-issue/
Hi,
can you record some MIDI, ZIP and attach it to a post here? Either separate MIDI or an FL Studio Project.
BR,
John

Hi John
So here is a Midi and I also included a .txt file of the zones I was hitting on the pad while recording. This is factory settings. There is no crossover but you can hear the issue immediately during the second half. I also threw in an mp3 of what I hear when playing with the kit.
Hope this helps!
Hi,
the Bell notes do not have a map value in the Legacy Yamaha MIDI Preset in EZdrummer 2, so you would need to edit the note values #85 and #86 to e.g. #8 and #9 in the module.
Also, the Edge notes sent from your module do not have separate trigger notes for the Tip (Body), they are the same.
Most important – there is no CC data at all, which is need for opening and closing the hihat. Is there a setting in the module for turning this ON/OFF?

John

I’m not sure where I’d find information on CC, when set manually it can tell the difference between the pedal being down or up (sends different notes), but it can’t blend between the two states. Unless that is what CC does? I imagine its not a voicing, would that be more of a general setting or is it specific to the pedal? What does CC stand for exactly to help me better search for it?
Yes, the CC data (Continuous Controller) is what determines the openness of the hihat; 0 is fully open and 127 is fully closed. CC4 is the standard foot controller but CC1 can also work.
In the plugin there are only Trig notes for the zones, then the CC data sets the open 1, open 2, open 3, etc articulation.

John
