The electronic kits need some fix ups.
Ex. Estensen kit I load the kit parts. Then when I go to “HiHat” to select different sounds, all I get is a list of Perc 1, Perc 2, etc. forcing me to click and audition.
These kits have some good stuff and some not so good but I would really expect them to be labeled and cleaned up as they are part of your base product.
Additionally, I would encourage some mic’d electro/drum machine kits like BFD does which are very interesting.
I like SD3 much more than BFD overall
Windows 11
Reaper
SD3

What’s cool is we can stick a mic in front of our speaker and record these sounds and then drag them back into SD3…..

Is the problem that the instruments list contains instruments other than hi-hats? In presets where the hi-hat is replaced with something else, the preset creator wanted that feeling, and changing instrument should keep that feeling. That’s why the design is made as it is.
You can always press alt + r to go into Search for Instrument, click the wanted filter for “instrument types”, hi-hat for example, and preview all hi-hats, and then replace the current instrument.
I don’t know if I misunderstood your post here?
