Hello,
I’m installing Superior Drummer 3 on Windows 11.
Till now I have installed:
Now I’m trying to install the Core MIDI Pack for Windows, but I get this message:
“The location used earlier for EZXs and Toontrack drum MIDI no longer exists.”
May I choose the default location and proceed, or is there some problem?
Thank you!
.
Hello.
I’m having the same issue. And since no one answered yours… May I ask if you have found any solution to this?
I just formatted my SSD and gave my PC a clean Windows 10, and I didn’t used that location earlier or anything. I just downloaded the library part 1 2 3 and Part 1’s 2 updates as seen here…
Sound library for windows update went smooth but the Core MIDI Pack one is giving me trouble. I didn’t installed the Libraries on their default location though, installed them on another disk because of the low disk space on my SSD. But, that other update and all other Library parts followed the Part 1 and went their designated hard-disk smoothly, only this on is giving me trouble. Should I just hit the Use Default option, will it run that way? Or should I put it on the folder that has my Library parts. I’m pretty confused.
I hope you or someone else has an answer. Please, and Thank You..
I’m sorry, I’ve definitely solved it because I see that the package is installed, but I don’t remember how… too much time has passed…

Thanked by: İsmail ErThank you very much for the almost instant reply, my friend!
I see… and I’m glad you solved it somehow.
Would you mind checking if it’s on C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files for me, please?
Mine has nothing there, not even a Toontrack folder. If yours is there, then I probably must put it there as well..
In my there’s a directory Toontrack with these contents
but the subdirectories contain only zero bytes’ files “header”

Thanked by: İsmail ErThat’s weird.
I’ll check it one more time after installing the Part 4 and 5 of the Library, I don’t think it will appear after that but I’ll check it anyway.
Might be a Windows 10 and Windows 11 difference… Also, might be version: 3.3.6 and version: 3.3.7 as well. Or maybe I don’t have that folder because I haven’t actually run Superior Drummer 3 just yet, maybe it would change after running it? We’ll see.
Well, again… Thanks for your help Alexandros58, you enlightened an adult today! =)
I’ll see to it, and hopefully will make it work somehow, just as you did.
I’m going to share my experience under here for the future troubled users to come.
Thanks for your assistance! Take care and be good, my friend!..
You’re welcome, Ismail, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you better.
I hope you fix the bug.
Enjoy Toontrack!

Thanked by: İsmail ErHi,
sorry to hear you are having problems.
As per this FAQ: https://www.toontrack.com/faq/where-are-my-files-located/
the Default location for Toontrack percussive MIDI is ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer\Midi’ on Windows.
It can reside in a Custom location as well but then this needs to be set system-wide and for all percussive MIDI and EZX:s (EZdrummer eXpansion libraries, should you have any).
I.e. the ‘C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Toontrack\EZDrummer\’ folder, which is the parent folder for the MIDI can be custom located elsewhere but all subsequently installed MIDI or EZX products will go into this location and it can’t be split over different locations.
I hope this helps,
John

Thanked by: İsmail ErHi, John.
So, I’ll just hit “use default” and be done with it then. Thank you.
But, why are we even having that warning since we don’t even have that location and never used it earlier?
And if this is a bug, then why it isn’t fixed by now?
Looks like it’s been around for at least 11 months and 1 week.
Hi,
I don’t think it would be called a bug per se, more perhaps like there is room for improvement on the wording of the message.
There needs to be a system-wide path for Toontrack MIDI; if it doesn’t exist, the Installer wants you to specify one – the Default or a Custom location.
If you install EZdrummer 3, you don’t have a choice but to have this ‘EZdrummer’ location somewhere on your system but if you are a Superior Drummer 3 user “only”, the only time you actually need such a location is when/if you install Toontrack MIDI (not all SD3 users use pre-made MIDI) and/or EZX libraries.
But I will make a colleague at HQ aware of your post.
BR,
John

Thanked by: İsmail ErHello again, and thanks for saying that you will let the HQ know about it.
I’m gonna be totally honest with you, John. I didn’t even know that I can live without the “Core MIDI Pack for Windows” update and was able to avoid it altogether since I don’t have any EZX libraries too. I only have what’s in my Superior Drummer 3 – Regular.
But since it’s called an upgrade and it’s for the Part 1… and the Part 1 is literally named as “Basic Sound Library” and all of the other 4 parts are not merely important as this one… I assumed that there’s a version of that MIDI pack already installed on my computer. And hence the name… Since it’s called “Core”, I assumed that it must be a vital thing to have and I need to upgrade it.
Yep, warning message definitely needs some improvement as you said. Better yet, HQ might consider adding a note to that upgrade’s name and call it “Optional, and if you… etc) and if and then a SD3 user “only” decides to go through with it, it should create that folder without even asking maybe?
Anyway, it’s been a journey =)
I have no doubt that you guys are gonna figure out the best possible way, and I bet you’re going to do that much better than me. So, I probably should stop thinking about it right arond… here.
I wish you both the best, and thank you for your time..
