Hi,
I have a multitrack performance I’m editing in Cubase Pro 10.5… and from this session I have a stereo drum track that I have imported into the Tracker section of SD3.
Because of the fluctuation of tempo in the original performance, I noticed SD3 Tracker Export doesn’t line up exactly with the original performance (even after I used ‘tempo detection’ within Cubase).
So the work-around has been to record a MIDI performance within Cubase while SD3 is still viewing the “tracker mode” results (the screen you see before you choose “export”).
This works, but the MIDI performance records MIDI lengths the entire length of the song instead of the duration of a single hit, almost as if there’s a CC hold function being recorded.
For example, within this song, there’s a solo Bass Drum hit at the beginning. The length of that hit shouldn’t be longer than an 8th note… but, instead, it’s the entire length of that song (4 minutes).
Any idea as to why this happening?
Thanks,
Chad

Hi,
if you put the Tracked MIDI on the SD3 Song Track and have SD3 ‘Follow Host’, doesn’t that work?
No idea what causes the long MIDI note, does it look that long when on the SD3 Song Track you enter the Grid Editor?

Thanked by: Chad AustinHi John, thanks for replying.
It only follows the host while still in Tracker Mode / Window view.
No matter how I export (regardless of how I set the tempo export options) when i put the midi file within the song track of SD, it’s off… even if I tell SD to follow host it starts going off within a measure.
I tried exporting a MID track and import that into Cubase… nope.
I’ve also read enough threads in this forum to see I’m not the only one who’s encountered this issue… since 2017: https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/make-tracker-exports-follow-tempo-in-the-daw/
This is why I started recording the tracker’s performance. And it works… with the exception the long MIDI note.
And no, the long MIDI notes in the DAW are not long within the Grid Editor of SD3.

Have you tried selecting a MIDI drum map (even just the GM drum map) on the Cubase MIDI track? It will display with drum diamond hits and not legato notes

Thanked by: Chad AustinScott, THAT is an awesome tidbit I didn’t know about- thank you. It still shows legato within the editor, but I’m OK with that.
It is still a mystery why the MIDI track shows legato in the first place. 🙂

Chad, did you try to Export a MIDI file from Cubase with the Tempo and Time signature mapped for importing into SD3?
Which version number is displayed in the SD3 plug-in interface (lower left corner)?

John

Thanked by: Chad AustinHi John,
I did try that, too, and it didn’t work. I wonder if this is something I should have done before editing/adding anything within Tracker. I’ve got four more songs within this project and I’m going to try that in the next song.
