I’m new here and perhaps this has been suggested or there may be a way to do this already and I haven’t found it… so point me in the right direction is that is the case.
To the folks at Toontrack, I think you may be missing an marketing opportunity here. I’d like the instrument search to show every instrument from the Core library as well as every SDX out there so that when I’m searching for an instrument, say an 8″ Tom, every single 8″ Tom created for SD3 returns in the results. The instruments from libraries that I don’t own would be disabled (and this is the good part for you guys at Toontrack) but have an in-app purchase ability to go get whatever SDX the instrument belongs to.
Of course you need to include a filter/switch so we can limit the search to just the libraries we own to keep everybody happy.
A searchable index could be kept online to avoid having to update the software’s instrument database whenever a new SDX comes out. If the software detects a network connection and I have the “Search online libraries” turned on, my search would include every SDX out there. If I see an instrument I like then I can go purchase the appropriate SDX.
And of course I’d want to audition the online instruments as well before purchasing.
Thoughts?
It’s a good idea to be able to preview all the instruments directly. We have this feature in the MIDI session (the online MIDI), and a similar feature for instruments would be a useful thing for our users. We have this noted as a feature request, thanks for the input!

Thanked by: CRitchieWhen I wrote this I didn’t realize the Grooves tab has the exact functionality that I am describing. If I would known that my post would have been a lot shorter. Can the Instrument search work like the Grooves search? ?
