I have almost EVERYTHING Toontrack, and rave about these folks, but the selection of  nice “warm pads” is slim; in fact I had bought from other manufacturers to find bank of simple pads without zero luck. The best I’ve found (and use for my clients) is from a free VST(3) app called Labs. It comes with a free bank called “pedal pads”. A lot of my clients write ballads and when I use this with the EZKeys 2 Grand (or the Singer Songwriter), it is really gorgeous. Until Toontrack comes out with a really nice set of warm pads, I’ll use the free ones. When they do, I have no doubt they’ll be my “go to”.

I LOVE the ‘Abyss’ preset in EZKeys 2.
If I want the pads only (LOVE the pads in this voice) is it possible to turn the piano off?
I apologize if this has been discussed, but I am not finding it in a search.
    THANKS

before I can try to answer your question,
in which library would I find the “Abyss” preset??
    I looked but couldn’t find it…

    Hi,

currently you cannot turn the main piano off, only turn down/up the pads volume. The pads layer isn’t available via separate outs either. Maybe something for the wish list?

Maybe something similar to this pad is amongst the pads in the Synthwave EKX?

Scott, it’s in the Session Grand ‘Pads’ Preset list.

    BR,
    John

Thank you John – I have listened through the Synthwave EKX samples, but will give them a listen again.

    Much appreciated.

Yes Raynaldo, pads are so important to production.

    Sunday Worship, for example.

But even on country, rock, or really any genre, putting pads low in the mix, often barely heard, gives the mix body and makes it complete.

I hope Toontrack releases something specifically for warm pads.

Listening to the Abyss preset, it is really nothing but a long modulated reverb under the piano create a pad effect. You can re-create that in any DAW with a pre-fader send. You can then take out the piano as you wish.
