Listen, I know that SD3’s claim to fame isn’t about its assortment of electronic kits. I expect that the electronic sounds were included in the core library just to imbue the product with a more inclusive feel, and not leave those potential users out in the cold. Comprehensiveness is usually a good thing in any sound library. But I do have to say that the electronic section of the core library seems rather slim. Maybe not in terms of how many great kick and snare sounds there are, but that there are only great KICK and SNARE sounds… period. Am I correct in my assessment that the SD3 core library only has electronic kicks and snares, and nothing else? As far as I can tell, using keyword searching in the library brings up nothing but kicks and snares. No toms, no hats, no cymbals, no perc. Seems like a pretty big shortcoming to me, even for a product that prides itself on what it offers in the way of acoustic instrumentation. If you’re going to go ahead and make the decision to include electronic sounds in the library, why wouldn’t you try to cover the rest of the rig? But… maybe I’m missing something? Am I not looking hard enough? If I am correct in my assessment, I guess I’d better ask if there are expansion packs out there for SD3 that give you a whole lot more electronics?
I think the idea of the electronic sounds in the S3 library was for stacking with the acoustic sounds. I know as a producer, I’m going to stack electronic sounds with kick and snare 100% of the time.
If I’m looking for electronic toms, cymbals and other, there are plenty of electronic sounds from Toontrack in expansions packs already in the Electronic EZX, Hip-hop EZX, and Number 1 Hits EZX.

@OnlyLeura
I agree with you 100% on the half-assed inclusion of only limited number of electronic sounds.
@Scott
These expansions you mention, are they all compatible with SD3?
@fripp2k
I am using the Electronic EZX now with SD3, and it works just great, and I am happy with what it provides.
