Are you asking if you can have the same MIDI mapping and velocity in your custom map when you change drum kit presets and have that as your MIDI mapping etc. without issue and extra work? Did you save your custom mapping as a preset in the MIDI in/edrums tab? I customized the GM MIDI preset and that’s my default for everything – I can change drum kits presets without issue. At worst you may have to switch to your customized preset when you change drum kit presets.

I’m still new to this whole process so forgive the follow up questions. Can you please provide steps for how you did this? So it sounds like you are saying I can indeed save my mappings/velocity and still be able to switch to other presets without having to do them again? What are the steps for this? Still trying to get used to navigation and all.

Go to the MIDI in/edrums page, select a preset and customize it to your liking. Save it under a new name and use that preset when you need it. You’re missing a point in the question I asked – are you trying to use different drum kit presets?

I was asking if midi settings could be saved universally. So I have my velocity etc. saved how I like it. Now I load another preset and they all revert back to defaults. I guess that’s why they call them presets. lol but to me, the velocity will pretty much be the same for every kit/preset. I guess what I”m really asking is if there is a way to save the velocity/mid settings as a default for all presets? Or am I pretty much stuck with having to re-do the velocity etc settings everytime I switch to another preset?

Also, how do I turn off ambience? Seems like a lot of the presets have in my opinion, too much ambience. I like a more tight, less echoey sound. Could not find in mixer where to adjust ambience.

When you load a preset you can choose the option of sounds only. Have you tried this? I’m not able to look to give you the exact details but look up loading a preset in the manual.

I was asking if midi settings could be saved universally.

    Hi,

that is what happens when you save your own MIDI In Preset on the MIDI In/E-drums settings page and it is Active. If you switch to another Preset, it should still be Active.

If you change Velocity Curves and MIDI Mapping settings in the property boxes on the DRUMS page, they will be wiped upon loading another preset.

OK, so along similar lines, I finally figured out how to get the ride bell to register on the proper pad/the bell on my set. but for some reason, it keeps reverting back to the tom next time I load it again I saved it both as the default and  save as. The cowbell seems to hold but not the ride bell. What am I doing wrong in the save process?

Are you saving the preset on the edrum page? Are you loading presets or projects?
The edrum page where you can select your drum module type is where you should save your midi preset and where changes should be made to mappings (definitely not on the main page) . When loading a preset on the main page the mapping will hold if you change kits but not all kits are the same. I have around 5 edrum presets for different kits. Loading a project loads everything. You can load a project with the wrong napping but then you have to load your edrum preset in the edrum page.

    follow up question:

what do you recommend for the velocity curves? Like I know the default linear does not seem to work for me as it is too sensitive. I feel like I am having to squish it down and right to get the response to be a bit more realistic though I can’t say it’s completely satisfactory. However, I’m sorta holding off spending too much time until I get the edrumin boxes since the triggering should be way better.

You’re going to have to decide for yourself how to set the velocity curves. There’s no right or wrong but what works with your ekit triggers and your playing style.
