Greetings,
Cubase 10.5 / Windows 10. Latest.
Long time Superior user here.
I thought I should make you guys aware of this one as it caused a bit of distress.
I was working on a project a few months ago which apart from using regular SD3 kits , involved a second SD3 version that we used to trigger some of our own kick and snare samples.
Today I came back to the project and hit play. As soon the cursor got to the drum section, it crashed repeatedly saying SD3 had crashed. The logs were Zero KB. So no point in attaching. This occurred 4 or 5 times after rebooting and restarting etc.
Eventually I decided to try and look at which SD3 version was causing the issue narrowed it down to the version with our own samples…
As soon as I opened the plugin to view it, it informed me that samples were missing. Indeed they were, as I had recently installed another new SSD drive and shuffled some samples around.
After locating the samples that were expected by this SD3 version all was well. (Thank goodness!)
So, bottom line: If you attempt to play SD3 with missing (non SD3) samples = nasty crash in Cubase. Plus there is no warning about the reason for the crash unless you happen to open the plugin interface.
Cheers, P.
