Hi new on here so please be gentle!

I have EZ Drummer and Superior Drummer on my main music PC
The question is when I drag and drop a clip into the track on my DAW there is a little code that appears in the track. how do I identify which clip it is ( I have a few add-on packs such as Nashville etc)

Is there an easy way or am I being really dumb?

    Cheers

I’m pretty new myself, but since no one else has responded, I’ll try to help…

For example, I copied a clip to the track with name EP_P_G01_01H. The four segments separated by underscores represent the four columns in the EZdrummer grooves display. So EP represent my Pop/Rock library item (1st column). I guess the “E” represents Expansion Pack.

The second column has five subdivisions labeled 4/4 straight…, 4/4 shuffle…, and things like that. There are various labels inside each. This is kind of a mixed bag. There are genres, time signatures, and instrument choices, e.g. side stick. Pop/Rock is a label inside each of these subdivisions, so it appears five times in this column. The first one resolved to “P” as you see in the clip name above. The second Pop/Rock, when chosen, generated a clip name with “Pb” in the second position. The third Pop/Rock was “Pc” so you can see the scheme there.

The third column, in this case, has only one subdivision named “Grooves”. there are 47 of them, named Groove01 through Groove47. You can that the third code in the name is G01, representing Groove01.

The fourth column has one subdivision named “Variations.” These are numbered from 1 to 20 and have descriptions. Most of the descriptions begin with “Hats”. The last column in the name is for Variation “01. Hats….”

Now in my Nashville expansion pack, the name, organization, etc. is different. But there are still four columns and the clip names will reflect that. If you can’t tell which expansion pack — or which 2nd column item, etc. — the clip name refers to, drag a clip from that pack and see what name is generated. That will help you determine how that pack generates names.

I’m trying to remember to annotate the track to indicate more about the DZdrummer clips I have on the track — especially the Expansion Pack, e.g. Nashville. The code isn’t too bad once you’re more used to dealing with it. From what I just learned today in writing this, it looks like it may be strictly alphabetical. That is, the clip name might always contain the first letter (or number) of the chosen column item followed by a second letter if needed. I haven’t verified that, though.

    Hope that helps.

Here’s a thread where Rogue tries to shed some light on the groove naming scheme.
