    If you want to automatically convert th brassware with Drumtracker, then close miking is the way to go -otherwise you will have to manually indentify the cymbals from your overheads (possible, but tedious).

    An alternative is to put piezo transducers on the cymbals (you’re after a musical event, not an impeccable reproduction of it), or other similar bug, and record the transient, or the MIDI event (if the bug’s brain proides it). Or of course, use e-drum cymbals ;o)
