Been watching the Fleetwood Mac DVD The Dance and notice that Mick has a drum attached to the front of his regular kick drum both of the same diameter. I think it’s called a subkick. It doesn’t look like that drum-like microphone they use to pick up the lows. Mick’s playing a DW kit. Is there any way to do that kind of thing in SD3?

Looking at The Dance, I think I might be missing something because all I see on Mick’s kick drum is a gold binding. if you can find a spot on the video that shows exactly what you are looking at and can grab a screenshot of it, that might be helpful. I’m sure that whatever it is you are looking at, we can emulate it in Superior Drummer.

Jord: Look at 10:36 of this video and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s during ‘Everywhere’. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9suHkG7QfYw
I don’t have someplace I can put the screenshot so the forum can see it.

It’s a subwoofer for the kick which gives it a bit more bottom end. It has the same effect as a sub kick.
Just had a look… Yeah, it’s a subwoofer. in this live situation it will have pretty much the same effect as using a sub microphone on the kick for recording. I believe that the core library already has a kick sub channel on it. You can tighten that by using a band pass EQ and bringing it up underneath.

Thanks all for the responses. I’d been watching this video for ages and wondered what it was all about. I’ll have to look at the core library to see what’s there. I’ve done a couple of covers of Fleetwood Mac pieces so something different might add a little spice if you will. I know that Mick doesn’t use it for the dvd they did in Boston so it might have been a one-off to match with the marching band stuff later on in the dvd. Roughly 7 years difference between the 2 gigs.

The core library as well as the Death part of Death & Darkness contains a sub channel.
For drums that don’t have a sub, I will create one using something like Little Alterboy from Soundtoys and use similar EQ tactics.
