A small gripe, a question and a request:
– In the user preset save as dialogue there is no warning to replace an existing preset of the same name – why is this save dialogue different – what am i missing?
– The manual talks about combining a mixer preset with a drum preset but how can I use a user mixer preset with a user drum preset – it seems as though they are the same preset type and overwrite each other – what am I missing there?
– The request is about the MIDI mapping keys display. I’ve worked out how to show midi notes rather than numbers in the list, that’s something but it’s still very unintuitive when trying to scan the list and match up different hits on e.g. an 88 note keyboard. It would be great if there was a much clearer keyboard view showing octaves – and it would be double great if this was a detachable tab;)
PS When you gonna make some cinematic/epic/hybrid perc SDXs!?

Do you mean Drums and Mixer user presets? We had a bug which made the check for existing presets fail if they weren’t identical with upper-/smaller-case letters. This might have been what you experienced? The bug will be fixed for next version. If the names were identical in that way – a popup should appear that asks if you want to overwrite the preset.

The Drums and Mixer presets contains the mixer and the drums. They can be described as changing how the drums sound.
You can – however – press the small arrow on the right side of the presets to access Load Parts. In there you can select what to load from the preset – for example only the drum kit.
The arrow is only available for presets made for SD3, so SDX:s won’t have that menu. We are looking into fixing that in coming updates.
In the bottom of the preset menu you’ll find two sub menus:
* “Drum Kits” – this menu only changes the drum selections in the kits, meaning that if you have stacks on the snare, and have changed some properties on some drums (pitch for example) – they will remain.
* “Mixers” – this is a legacy menu, since some of our older products contained special presets for the mixer.

We will look into making this area easier to use!

It is cool to play cinematic stuff! We can’t unfortunately comment on future releases 🙂
I hope it got a bit clearer for you, reply if you have further questions!

Thanks Henrik – I’ll try to get to grips with “parts”.
I was trying to work with presets with the SD3 kits to set up my own mixer template – what I wanted was to have a common multi-out/multitimbral mixer set up that is easy for me to recall in Logic and with any SD3 kit – I realise then that working with parts is key to this. It’s not quite clear if I can do this – and if I won’t be able to this with legacy SDXs but great info all the same.
I don’t think you got the point about the save dialogue. As a user, you expect a save dialogue to have have some dialogue! e.g. overwrite duplicate, choose sub folder etc… the preset save dialogue doesn’t seem to be normal/expected… seems unfinished to me…
