When I drag midi grooves into Cubase with SD3 there’s an odd behaviour in that it changes the track name from whatever I assigned (Say “Drums” for examples) to something like “Superior Library”. Is there a way to change this behaviour? Is it a bug? I’m just using straight up midi tracks, not instrument tracks. It would be great if I could get it to stop renaming the assigned track name 🙂 I’ve worked with Superior Drum 2 in the past and it never did this.
If you have no Instrument tracks do you mean that you’re using SD3 as a rack instrument in Cubase? I have just tried to duplicate your problem but have been unable to do so. Using SD3 as a rack instrument I can create midi tracks, name them whatever I want and drag SD3 grooves in there without changing the track name. If you have SD3 in an instrument track you should also be able to drag groves into that track without changing the track name as well. What version of SD3 and Cubase are you using? What OS are you on?
Cubase Pro, Korg Kronos, M-50, Hammond XK-1c, Toontrack SD3, EZBass w/lots of expansions, many VSL Vi's, Shreddage 3 everything, and shit-tons of FX plugins.
Correct, midi track and Superior 3 as a VST rack instrument. My Cubase is older, version 6 (whatever the last released version was, I think 6.07 or something). Windows 7. As mentioned this doesn’t occur with SD2, only SD3.
I don’t have any way to test your problem with your version of Cubase. All I can say for sure is that this problem does not occur in Cubase 10.

Gotcha, thanks. I can live with it, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve been contemplating eventually upgrading to Cubase 10. I just hate that they redesigned the VST rack. I had Elements 8 or 9 on a work computer a while back. Spent the $100 or so bucks so I could mess around during any slow periods at my last job and didn’t at all like how much space each VSTi took up in the rack since each instruments shows a set of quick controls. Did they ever make it so you can hide them or minimize the size?
Yes you can minimize or hide them. To hide them just hide the entire right panel buy clicking the appropriate ‘button’ at the top right of the project window. You can minimize them by clicking on the little arrow at the top right of each VSTi in the rack. You also minimize or maximize them all at once if you wish
