Hi there my friend has ezdrummer in FL Studio with Drum kit from hell and we’re wondering how you get double bass.
We’re using a Roland HD electric drum kit as a midi trigger for the ezdrummer program sounds and it works great.
What we would like to know is how to change the hi-hat trigger to another kick drum sound (hence double bass on the kit).
Any help much appreciated,
Many thanks,
Bill T
The HD1 has a kit set up like this.
Open hats and hat foot pedal as 2nd Kick drum..
Have you tried that kit triggering EZ ?
If it doesnt work it could be as simple as triggering a kit that does have double kiks like DFH .
It is just a different midi number than C(normal kik1) like half tone down to B or Bb,The hD2 is basic and may not spit the correct midi out so you may have to midi learn/steal on EZ drummers end.A bit of trial and error,
It should be EZ
EZdrummer has no way of reassigning MIDI notes, so all such operations need to be performed in your module or host.
Also, for acceptable hihat operation, you need to use Toontrack solo as your host. Other hosts are not supported for full E-drum use.

Ok, Toontrack Solo has the kit working perfectly with the open hi-hat etc as it picks up all 16 channels.
Though, unfortunately the kit has no use to me here 🙁
I need this in FL Studio…
Any way of getting the hi-hat to work properly with ezdrummer in FL?
I also wouldn’t know how to reassign MIDI notes with my module or host…
I’m a bit of a newbie to all of this really
Thanks
With this combination you may be out of luck,if you can change to SD2 your problem will solvable.
SD2 will let you reassign midi notes.
Any module above HD1 should be capable to reassign the midi note coming out.
John from tech – are you aware of any other hosts that support e-drums like toontrack does?
juicy – how do you midi learn? In fl studio I see all these midi C#1 #2 #3 ETC things but I have no clue what they mean and what to do with them/how to change them about.
Change what to SD2? and what is SD2?
You are right the Roland HD cannot change the midi signals it sends out from its module. However I can change the signals on the host.
I have found something called edrum monitor and midi yoke. Edrum allows me to change the midi signals sent and midi yoke allows me to emulate the new midi device (my roland) for my DAW.
Though I know very little about midi so the programs make no sense whatsoever to me… MIDI CC and outputs and tracks and what not… Guess that’s one for the edrum forums.
Thanks
Change/upgrade Ez Drummer to Superior Drummer2.
Every drum you hit sends a midi note to EZ or whatever drum /synth
for example the Hi Hat and the hi hat foot pedal are different midi notes,Kik drum and Snare are different midi notes
thats how it all works.
What you want is to make the Hats foot stomp play a second kik drum so the pedal stomp midi needs to be changed from G#2 to B1 or C2,It can be done several ways before and after recording .
