I purchased a bundle from groovemeonkey adding 1000’s of grooves, and I’m pretty sure tap to find is only searching my toontrack grooves.
The groovemonkey grooves are showing up in the ezd2 menu, and I can preview and drag them into song but I’m not sure the tap to find is including them in the scans as my results seem to be all ones contained from my ezx midi files.
Is this a limitation, a bug or am I just being unlucky via tap to find?
No, you’re not unlucky and it’s not a bug…just an enhancement to the Toontrack MIDI.
They’ve added tags to all of their MIDI that enables Tap2Find and the Search tab filtering.
So, call it a limitation of the 3rd-party MIDI, of which I too own a lot that I can’t find with Tap2Find.
There was talk of developing an algorithm to detect and tag 3rd-party MIDI
but I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t have developed such a thing during the tagging of their own MIDI.
Joke was that some poor bastard was locked away tagging the Toontrack MIDI ’til the eve of EZDrummer2’s release.

Great info thanks. Wish I new that before dropping $100 on the groovemonkey files.
It does not make that distinction in the toontrack vid’s of the tap to find feature.
it was definitely mentioned & further clarified in one, if not two of the live ( and posted) Q&A videos. one of those 20-45 minute videos, for sure.
i know this because i asked Rikk that very question with a follow-up – again because i already owned lots of 3rd-party MIDI.
too late for you now, but if it saves someone else’s frustration,
i’ll try & find a link to the videos when i get back my laptop.
We are aware of being able to use custom MIDI in the Search tab is a really wanted request amongst our users. Due to technical reasons, it isn’t implemented. I can’t comment on future releases and their features, but we are listening to what our customers are saying and trying to fulfill their needs as much as possible!
