    Hi,

I have a lot of products installed on my internal drive on my MacBook Pro, which is APFS formatted. No problems.

    BR,

I’ve read that it’s better to keep your libraries on an external drive. I use both an Intel and Apple Silicon Macbook Pro. Do you get the same benefit from putting your sound libraries on a different APFS volume on the same APFS container that you would by putting your sound libraries on a different physical disk?

Performance will always be better when you put sample libraries on a different physical drive than your OS drive. That being said, if you have enough RAM and don’t have a lot of constant swapping around to do with your drum kit, once you load it, it’s not some horrible awful thing if your samples are on your OS drive.

I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro with my SD3 library installed right on the internal 1 TB SSD and it works just fine.

Thanks. If you have to use the built in drive, does it help to make a different volume for the libraries?
