I am using Easy Drummer 2 with my Simmons SD 1200 kit. The problem I am having is the kit’s half hi-hat sends a D5 midi note and Easy Drummer 2 actually fires off the ride cymbal on all of EZ drummer’s mapping pre-sets. I have read other posts where it looks like other kits provide the ability to change midi mapping inside their modules but I don’t think my kit does that, or at least I can’t find anywhere to do that using the module. I have tried contacting Simmons but the people that answer there are clueless about this. Anyway, my solution was to spend 30 dollars on a mac app called MidiFire which allows me to change that D5 midi note to any value I want and it all works great. However it would be nice if I didn’t have to run that app all the time. If anyone knows if I can do this just using EZ Drummer stand-alone please let me know. Do you have to buy Superior Drummer to be able to do this midi mapping conversion stuff?
Hi,
EZdrummer 2 does not have the ability to transform notes outside of the factory presets, nor can you edit or create new mapping presets like in Superior Drummer 3.

Thanked by: rams7519I’m having the exact same problem.
I was a bit disappointed to find that EZDrummer triggers the ride (and sometimes a floor tom) when the hat is played, and that there’s no built in mapping for Simmons. I don’t have a Mac but I’ll look for something comparable to MidiFire since that’s really the only viable solution I’ve found so far.
