Can you run a quick test and set the numbers of CPU to 1? In some cases this has helped, especially when running SD3 in Logic.

Thank you for the quick reply, Henrik — and also, really great job with the UX design!

I tried 1 CPU and this did not improve matters.

I have the same problem with SD3 . I use a Roland V-Drums TD-10 test it with the Alesis d4 and a Fame DD. EZD have no dropouts. Addictive Drums work fine also Steve Slate Drums and BFD3 .Only SD3 has these dropouts when playing live.

EZD is more stable than the expensive SD3 version.

What buffer size do you have set in SD3? Have you tried increase it and does that help?

    Have you tried different presets?

    Thanks Brad

Buffer setting is 256. I’ve tried many presets. It is also the case without effects and reduced volume.

I changed the buffer size in all directions. But that brought no change.

    Hi,

what audio interface are you guys using?

I’m going through the Exact situation, did you ever find the solution? I have tried everything you can think of  the static won’t go away  I’m giving up! I feel like I wasted money buying SD3. Please let me know.

What interface you using? What are your buffer settings? Is this happening within a DAW or standalone? Mac or Windows?

What trouble shooting have you done so far?

Thanks Brad! I’m using steignberg UR44 2017 (sound card) MacBook Pro. I’m using SD3 in Reason 10 haven’t used standalone yet, currently the buffer size I’m on is 128 this allows me to play drums with my fingers without latency issues. If I push the buffer size up to 4,098 which  is the maximum the static becomes a little better but it’s still there but I won’t be able to play drums due to latency . I also I have eazy drummer it plays perfectly fine on the same computer, but I want SD3 drum samples they are just clean and modern. Because of this static I haven’t used my new SD3 it’s just not possible.

would you mind trying it in standalone? 128 should be more than ample. I can push my old Antelope Zen down to 32 standalone, 64 in Studio One if I am just running SD3 and some audio without too many plugins.

Steinberg support is showing a driver up to 10.15.x. Were you running Catalina before or is this a new rig with Big Sur installed?

Sure let me try stand-alone, and see how it works.   I have always liked using it within daw cause it’s easy and faster for me. And yes it’s  a new rig I’m running  latest Big Sur. I will also try to download latest steignbeg drivers.

Running it in standalone is just to see if the problem is between Reason 10 and the sound card. You should be able to run it in a DAW.

    These are just debugging, steps.

And yeah try playing around with the buffer in SD3 standalone, just to see what’s happening.

    It’s not clipping is it?

    As always, driver updates…. Ugh…

I have to ask, is it an M1 processor or Intel?

Just found out I had not installed standalone so it’s installing right now.  Hopefully it’s the sound card that has the issue I can always  buy another one. Also yes it’s M1. Also the latest steignberg driver didn’t help. I also forgot to mention that I’m running on 8gb of memory: could that be the problem?  But at the same time Eazy drummer running smooth no issues.

Man, you’re in uncharted territory…. I will probably wait until 2022 to jump on the Apple Mx Wagon… but you know I’m going to do it….

Going through Rosetta 2 with an unsupported audio interface. Surprised that you have gotten this far, so good on ya.

Some of the SD3 kits and presets are quite hefty in the memory department, so 8gb RAM is pretty light. Might want to check resource usage as well.

You could try loading them at 16 bits just to see if there’s any difference. They will load a little slower but worth a try. Will take less RAM.

In the name of “science”… could you try witching to the internal sound card to see if there’s any difference? (just off the top of my bald head)
