    Some things to look at…

    Have you tried standalone?

Are you hearing the distortion on other instruments or only snare?

Have you tried to load a supplied preset with the same snare and see if the distortion is there as well?

I do not get it in stand alone.

Toms, kick ect do it as well in my DAW.

I thought I had worked it out, but it still is sounding like digital distortion when playing manual or a factory groove.

    Thanks for your help Pumpkinking.

I’ll keep trying to figure it out.

    Regards,

    David

What is your CoreAudio buffer size in logic? As well, check your sample rates.

perhaps, ZIP up a copy of your logic project (without audio) and post it so we can take a look at it. It’s hard to tell otherwise.

Also maybe check the memory usage on the machine when you have the DAW open and SD3 plugin loaded with the kit in question.  If that combo (plus whatever else you have going) is using all of your free memory, you would be starting to use swap, and that can cause distortion.

I have seen this when I had two different SD3 tracks in my DAW (recording two different preset kits in the same project).  The total mem used was greater than the system memory and the SD3 samples started getting choppy.

I’m having a similar issue I think, yet only with 2 snare drums in the same library sounding as if they have some serious distortion effects added. Its not a “glitching” sound, as in from a DAW running out of available memory etc.

Using the plug-in 3.3.1 within Logic Pro 10.7.4, Rooms of Hansa: Marble Room.

This ONLY occurs when I swap in either the Masshoff 5.5 twin shell or the 7.5 Wahan wood shell.

In the Hansa rooms, you have a “trash” or distorted channel you can dial in and out of your mix as desired. For whatever reason, on only these 2 snares, the trash channel kicks in massively. No insert effects on any channels. Even stranger, when I lower the “trash” channel fader, I lose the “trash/distortion” but I also lose the level of the snare close mics as well, top and bottom. I’ve tried flying in different mixer settings from other kits in the Marble Room library and it stays the same, affecting only those two snares. Same problem when I remove bleed from the “trash” channel, I get no close mic sound on the snares. Again, only on those two.  Is this the type of issue you’re talking about David?

If I swap any of the other 3 snare drums in that library back in.  Solid. No distortion and I can add the “trash” fader in or take it out and the snare levels don’t change.

I’ve been at a loss on this one and feel like theres going to be a real forehead slapper answer for this, but then again. hmm.

    Hi Chip,

I have been trying to reproduce the behavior you are describing with unwanted linking of direct and Trash channel signals and I simply can’t. Would it be possible for you to Save a Project where this happens, ZIP archive it and attach to a post here?

    BR,
    John
