I’m a long-time Superior Drummer user and I’ve always known of the use of the smoothing feature to add realism to cymbal crescendos/swells and whatnot. But the smoothing parameter also allows for negative values. I understand when sliding to the right it adds a smoothing feature, but my question is “what is it doing when using negative values”?
Also curious if people ever use the smoothing feature on non-cymbal parts of a kit? If so, what’s your reasoning and what scenarios do you find it useful?
I use smoothing when doing snare rolls in the Orchestral SDX.

Where do I find the smoothing feature?

Click an instrument in the Drum tab like a crash cymbal so that it is hightlighted in blue, then at the right top instead of “Default box view” select “Show All”, down below that click the double down arrows to open the smoothing settings. “Level of smoothing for fast repeating hits.”
