Using the Digidesign 002R with version 8.0.3 of the Digi CoreAudio Manager seems to cause Drumtracker to play back everything at about 3x or 4x speed, as if trying to play back at a higher sample rate (I’m running 44.1 kHz files, I’ve tried both aif and wav, stereo and mono, 16 and 24 bit). I’m going to try using a higher bitrate file and see if that fixes it, but has anyone else run into this problem?
edit: No luck on using a higher bitrate, Drumtracker just converts it to 44.1 kHz and its definitely running the 002 at 44.1 and not some other bitrate. This problem doesn’t happen using the built-in output, and it worked fine with my MOTU UltraLite the last time I had it hooked up.

When you use Drumtracker with the Digi Core Audio and get this result, do you get same result if you switch to another audio application utilizing the Digi Core Audio?
Can you please check the settings of the Digi Core Audio that you are not using an external clock source?

Only Drumtracker seems to be affected. I loaded up a wav file in Drumtracker, it played at 3x/4x speed, then I played it with the built-in OSX preview (click the file and hit spacebar) while Drumtracker was still open, and it played back fine. I also played back audio in Firefox while Drumtracker was open and that worked fine too.
Also, I noticed that Drumtracker can’t connect to the Digi CoreAudio Manager unless it is the first client to launch it. For example, if Logic is open and using the Digi002, when I try to open a file with Drumtracker, I get this error:
I haven’t experienced that problem with any other audio apps that I’ve tried.
And Digi CoreAudio is not using an external clock source.
Hope this helps diagnose the problem, cheers.

well,
the Digidesign Core Audio driver is not multi-client, so the message above is not strange.
Then you do not get any similar playback problems with the same files in Logic?

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by multi-client since I can usually run any combination of sound producing apps through the Digi002 at once. Drumtracker is the only app I’ve used that only works with the Digi002 if it is the first client launched.
Just as an example,
That’s where I launched a YouTube video and then Logic, both playing audio as reflected in the “Attached Clients” dialog. I think I remember the 002 being non-multi client if you’re running Pro Tools LE, but I’m not using that.
But to answer your question, no, the files I tried using with Drumtracker were exported from Logic and play back fine in Logic, and they work fine in Drumtracker if I use MOTU interface or the on-board sound instead of the Digi002.
Cheers.
