This has probably already been asked and answered, but what i want to know is, does EZ drummer come with DFH or do i need to purchase it? (since it is on sale right now) I bought S2.0 with Metal Foundry but thought i would add DFH to help ease the learning curve. I am new to the digital recording so i have a ton of equipment and software to learn how to use. I purchased an Intel mac 10.5, Logic pro 9, and a Motu 828 MKII interface. Any advice (how to get started, instructional videos, etc…) would be greatly appreciated.

The DFH EZX is a separate product and purchase.
If you have bought TMF SDX for S2, have you tried all of the Combined Presets? They should get you to a more ‘finished’ sound quicker. Make sure your Toontrack software is up-to-date.

Thanks. I have not even got to the point of using this software. As i said i am extremely new to this and i am still trying to figure out how to use my logic pro 9. I am thinking i have gotten way in over my head. So as for the DFH i would be spending money that i don’t need to in your opinion? I love the idea of this software that is why i spent all the money on it. Was used to programing all the tracks before so this would be fantastic to eliminate all the time spent on that process. Thanks for the response.

I’m not saying that by buying DFH EZX you would be waisting your money.
Here’s my point.
TMF sounds are raw and unprocessed out of the box. You can process them in the S2 mixer with the built in effects or route out to Logic and process there. This takes mixing skills to achieve. The DFH EZX has preprocessed already mixed sounds. Whether the premixed sounds are what you are looking for is another question though. But, they are premixed nonetheless.
Included with TMF SDX are quite a few Combined Presets. These are full kit/mixer presets created by knowledgeable engineers to provide the end user with a ‘ready for the mix’ sound. These Combined Presets are great for getting great sounds fast. Similar to the premixed DFH EZX in terms of processed sound, but more flexible as you still have the raw sounds to work from.
Both have a place in production. Sometimes the premixed sound of the DFH EZX is right for the song and sometimes something more flexible is called for.

Thanks. I will read some posts and see if i can get started bringing some midi files into logic to work with and go from there.

Got another question in line with this one. In the box of disks that came with S2.0 are two blue disks with all the installers for EZ drummer, EZ player, and all the EZX’s. Does this mean that if i have installed these disks (which i have) that all i need to purchase are authorization codes (instead of the entire product) to use them? If so does my S2.0 authorization code cover any of them?

Yes, you would just need to purchase serial numbers for them.

Your S2 authorization code covers your S2 product. All Toontrack products require a unique serial number that will be used in the registration process for each product.

So i have registered in “my products” EZplayer pro, SD2.0, and Metal Foundry. I will need to purchase a code for the EZdrummer? I figured i needed one for all the EZX’s just wanted to make sure that what i had in the SD2.0 box was full versions and i wasn’t going to be missing stuff like midi files specific to each of those programs. Thanks for the reply.

You don’t need to purchase EZdrummer for the EZXs to work. You need a working copy of EZdrummer or S2 installed/authorized but you don’t need both.
MIDI for the EZdrummer line (EZXs) are included in the install. The MIDI for S2 and TMF (and all SDXs) are available to download from your Toontrack account.
